"I'm fine..." I responded, cracking a hopefully convincing grin. Nat raised her eyebrow and gave me a look as though she didn't quite believe me.
"I'm not an idiot, I heard what you and Ana were talking about," Natalie whispered, biting the skin around her nails and looking me up and down.
"I'm going to bed, I'm not going to get in trouble for you..." She said, rolling her eyes and smiling at me as though she were mocking herself. She pulled the curtain across the room and quickly sprung into her bed. I leaned back, I felt myself melt into the cool hospital sheets as I watched the light on the security camera about us blink.
"It's fucked up they watch us sleep," Natalie whispered, noticing I'd seen the camera above us.
"I'm sure they'd have camera in the bathroom too if it weren't illegal, especially after what happened..." She continued, rolling over and shutting her eyes.
"What happened?" I whispered, sitting up and looking over at Nat.
"...Ana and I were here together a few months ago, in ward eight... a girl used the towels to hang herself. She didn't make it... Ana found her, that's why she was all over you when she arrived she was worried about you," Natalie said, her voice cracking. I could tell what had happened must've really hurt her, but it was completely acceptable. When you're locked away with a group of people for so long you eventually get to know them quite well and I can only imagine the pain the two girls went through.
The next morning, I was quiet. I sat down next to Brad on the couch, he was talking a million miles an hour, his dad was coming to visit and he was going bowling for the day. I was happy for him, although I knew I'd be lonely. After Brad left, Ana, Jordan, Chloe and Nat invited me to come do some painting with them for a few hours. We got to talking and we learnt a lot about each other that day. After sitting and chatting for what felt like hours, one of the Nurses came in an informed us it was time we come out to the dining room for lunch.
We sat down, and began eating.
"EVA WATCH THIS!" Anastasia shouted as she ran over to a pole in the living room, gripping onto it and pulling her body up onto the pole.
"My mum signed me up for pole dancing classes! I could teach you after lunch!" Ana continued, pulling herself up and down the pole and twisting her body around it like a snake.
