"I- what?!"

"You heard me." he said giving her a sideway glance. "I refuse your apology."

She couldn't think. Couldn't understand. What in the world was happening?! Did he just straight out refused to forgive her?!

Her eyes widened in disbelief when it finally dawned on her. He did. How can someone even do that? Is it even legal?

"What do you mean apology denied!?"

"I'm sorry, but are you really that dumb that you can't understand what that means?" He said, raising one of his eyebrows and looking at her as if she was some sort of a clown. "Let me break it down for you then." he sighed, running a hand through his spikey hair. "You said 'I'm sorry' and I said 'no'. There, understand now blondie?"

She stared at him dumbfounded, rage bubbling up inside of her with every passing second.

"You just- but I just- cake- you can't do that!"

"Oh?" he smirked. "But I just did."

"But I- Why?"

He shrugged, moving past her towards the exit. "You piss me off."

"Whoa. Now hold it right there buddy." Lucy grabbed his hand, not letting him go any further. "I went through the pain of baking you cupcakes, of having flour and chocolate all over my face and hair just for the sake of an apology. I am not letting you leave until I have that. Or at least have you give me a satisfactory answer. So get your butt back to the booth."

"Are you trying to intimidate me into forgiving you?" he asked, his eyebrows raised.

"I'm slightly out of options here you know."

"Just so you know.." he leaned closer, his lips just a few centimeters away from her ear. Lucy could feel his breath on her ear and shuddered, her face turning beet red. "It's not really working."

With one last exhale that sent tingles down her spine, he settled back into the booth, gazing intently at the menu card.

'What I'm the world was that?!' Lucy wondered, her blush slowly fading. 'He was so close!'

"Y-You say it isn't working." she forced a smile, trying best to hide how flustered she actually was. "Yet here we are. With your butt in the booth."

"Leave my butt out of this blondie." he answered nonchalantly, frowning at the menu. "Are you going to sit or what?"

"It's nice to see you not frowning at me for a change." Lucy chuckled, a genuine smile across her face.

"Shut it weirdo."

"And there it is again." she sighed tying up her hair. "It was a nice second."

He just rolled his eyes in response, signalling for a waitress to come over.

"How may I help you?"

"I'll have a mocha with whipped cream and-"

"Spiced cinnamon on top. Got it!" she smiled, writing it down on her notepad. "And what about you miss?"

"I'll have a-"

"She doesn't matter." he said, dismissing Lucy with a wave of his hand.

She couldn't believe him. Was he seriously going to do this? Damn this guy was one of a kind. And not in a good way.
