The sun began to rise over the large but quaint Viridian City. The bright orange light illuminated the front of my parent fairly large bungalow. The sunlight shined through my bedroom window and pierced my eyelids and startled me awake, today was the day. It was my eighteenth birthday and my starter Pokemon should be arriving shortly. I got up and quickly got dressed. I donned a black polo-shirt and my bright orange vest. I looked into the mirror of the bathroom and splashed water on my caramel-skinned face. My normally bright ice blue eyes were slightly bloodshot. I ran my fingers through my sandy brown hair.  Excitement and anxiety have kept me awake since I passed my Trainers Academy finals. It was hard for me to fit in at school since I was a transfer from another region.

My family relocated here from Alola when I was only fourteen because my brother Marc Myles became the Indigo League Champion. He was significantly older than me, having traveled three separate regions. He started his journey in Alola but was defeated in the Manalo Conference, he was instantly attracted to the not far off Orange Islands. There he won the non-sanctioned league and was named a champion. That wasn't enough for him, though he was a champion in the eyes of his family, he felt as if we deserved more. That's when he traveled here and with the help and support from his closest friends, he conquered the Indigo League and rose to world fame. He was dethroned a few years later and now serves as a member of the Elite Four. The E4 are not only the strongest trainers, but are also enforcers of good throughout the Kanto region.

“Jacobi!!” I heard my mother call from downstairs. “Special Delivery for you.” My package had arrived. I ran down the stairs making a thunderous sound as my feet met the hardwood steps. My father was holding the front door open with a prideful smile on his face. My father is a tall man, which is where I get it from. I am essentially his clone, aside from my charm and demeanor, that's from my mamma's side. When I finally approached the door there was a small red and silver feathered penguin-like pokemon holding a sack in one hand and a small box in the other.

“Deli..!” The delivery Delibird happily held the little box up for me. I quickly grabbed it and signed his little clipboard. “Deli! Deli!” Delibird waved to us bidding farewell and quickly ran off. I opened the small wooden box and there it was, a red and white pokeball with a green leaf engraved above the button. The various regions collaborated a few years ago to establish this direct to house delivery of starter pokemon. This allowed for children all over the world to no longer be confined to only 3 starter choices, but have access to all 24 starters. My hands trembled as I picked up my chosen starters pokeball and pressed the red button on top to enlarge the metal orb and gently tossed it in the air. A bright flash of light emerged and then receded revealing the small owl pokemon.

“Let?” the grass type starter looked at me with it head askew. The white and brown feathers on his wings shimmered in the morning sun as he stretched his wings. His black beady eyes and bright orange beak were surrounded by a white mask of tiny soft white feathers. Under his chin was a small patch of leaves in the shape of a bow tie. He was absolute perfection.

“Hey there Rowlet, I'm Jacobi your new trainer!” I burst with excitement. Rowlet made a loud happy coo as it fluttered up to my hat and rested on it. I peered into the box and found a little envelope with a wax seal with two large legendary bird like pokemon in a circle. After closing the door I sat on our couch as the happy little owl sat on the table in front of me. I opened the envelope and began reading:

    Jacobi Myles,
Greetings from New Bark Town in the region of Johto! We are exponentially excited to     hear you have chosen to travel our humble region. We have a rich history of strong trainers     traveling here from all over the globe. This has increased the amount of Pokemon species who now call Johto their home. Prof. Burnett-Kuikui from Alola was ecstatic to assist me in obtaining a Rowlet for an island native abroad. This Rowlet is a descendant of the Rowlet who won the very first Manalo Conference. May you and your partner have many years of success. I look forward to seeing you soon to register you for the Silver Conference.
                                    Yours Truly,
                                    Prof. Elm
