The morning was still cool and chatter buzzed in the air of the training field. Denji couldn't help but take a deep breath through his nose and smile a little bit to himself. "It's really nice out here," he said, looking to his friend who still clung to his arm.

"It is. At least, it feels nice. Do you think you can describe our surroundings?" As he asked the question, Shitsumei's eyes blankly examined the area.

Denji was confused by the remark before he understood and nodded. He glanced around, "About ten kids are standing in a group about seven meters in front of us at twelve o'clock. Another group of five is stand to the left at about four o'clock at two meters away. The last three kids are behind us, about two meters away at seven o'clock. The teachers are in front of us, standing on a pitch that's maybe six or seven meters away at twelve o'clock in front of the group of ten."

As he spoke, Denji hoped he was describing the scene properly to his friend. He watched Shitsumei nod and tilt his head as he listened around for the people Denji had pointed out. "Alright..where on the field are we standing?"

A moment passed as Denji tried to figure out how to explain, looking around. "We're mostly to the right, standing before a throwing area of sorts. On the ground is a cone like marking place and Mr. Iida is holding a bag of balls. I believe we may be throwing the balls."

Again, Shitsumei nodded, opening his mouth to speak but being cut off as the homeroom teacher caught their attention. "I will be giving you a variety of assessments today. They will test your strength, agility, and ability of your quirks."

The students seemed to get excited, many of them whispering amongst themselves with an attitude of cockiness and confidence. Denji knew better than to allow himself to get cocky, his Papa had taught him to pay attention to the way others spoke and how they behaved. He could just hear an undertone to the man's voice when he spoke the words and had taken note of the slight twitch of Iida's lips as he tried to suppress a smirk. Denji already knew that there was a catch to this, and he was curious to find out.

"There will be individual scoring based on how you do in each of the assessments. I will use the scoring to rank you from first to last. Now, it hasn't been done in a long time, but whoever places last will immediately be expelled."

The whispers hushed and turned to silent surprise at the threat, but Loki seemed to not care or notice. Denji couldn't help but chuckle to himself, having heard the slight change in pitch of Iida's voice and the flick of his eyes to the left as he made the threat. Shtisumei's head twitched at the soft sound of the chuckle, his eyebrows furrowing a little bit. "Why are you laughing? Someone could be expelled."

"No one is going to be expelled," whispered Denji in response, "he's just bluffing."

Shitsumei was obviously confused, but he made no question about Denji's statement.

Loki seemed to smirk from in front of the group, holding out a ball. "Who's first?"

The students were silent, looking between each other. Denji rolled his eyes to himself and tapped the back of Shitsumei's hand, of which was place on his right shoulder, before walking up to the front of the group.

"I'll go."

Those two words sent a wave of whispers amongst the teens, some surprised and others unsure about the kid who stepped up. Denji ignored them as he reached out and took the baseball from Loki's hand.

Denji took a step back and stood at the edge of the cone like markings on the dusty ground. Taking a breath, he took a pitcher's stance and reared his right arm back, ready to the throw the ball in his hand. Just as he was ready to throw the ball, a female from within the group called out with a cold and mocking voice.
