So, as a bunch of teenagers poured into Walkerhall High School on Monday, January the 5th looking downright miserable, I knew what I had to do. I had to come up with something to get the entire school involved, or at the very least, the entire 12th grade. Getting that many people involved in a revenge would definitely be considered going out with a bang. The only problem was trying to find something totally peaceful, nonviolent and easy to do. That and making sure it didn't get traced back to us. But it was high school. Getting it traced back to us could be either very hard or very easy depending on how we played it. In other words, we were figuring out a good way to spread the plan and also figuring out an actual plan.
And the news of Kate's wardrobe spread very quickly. As soon as I walked in, I heard everyone buzzing about it. Just that morning, I heard three different stories of who was suspected to have done it. None of them came close to the truth. That was good, and throughout the day, I laughed. Not only because the revenge had gone so well, but also because no one actually had any idea who had done it. I saw Kate and she was wearing a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. I actually felt kinda bad when I saw a piece of Spam fall out of her hoodie though. I think I was the only one who saw it, but she looked mortified. Throughout the day, laughter followed her down the hallways.
The others also felt bad, as was brought up to me after school. Even John was hearing stories, probably because of social media. I told them not to worry and that this would all blow over, and within days, Kate would have a completely new wardrobe. We agreed and tried to make each other feel better about the whole situation, but we all felt kinda shitty for a while. Eventually though, our thoughts came to Andre, and suggestions were made, but no good ones. So, we agreed to come back to it tomorrow and set about our homework.
I'm gonna take a quick break here to explain something. So, I know that in all sense, readers should get pissed when teenagers have this much freaking free-time. I mean, we obviously had a shit-ton of homework right? The answer is kind of. We had a fair amount of homework, yes, but... the majority of it was studying. And my friends and I procrastinated all the damn time. Like, always. Most of the homework we did was either after we got home and fairly late at night, during the school day or sometimes before school, when worst came to worst.
Something else that comes to mind: ever noticed how authors only reference the bathroom when it's needed to advance the plot? Or maybe sometimes in survival stories? But the fact of the matter is, books would be boring as shit if the author included every single time one of their characters had to take a piss. I mean, that makes sense right? Good. Ok. Back to the story, I suppose.
The following day, the news on Kate was starting to cool down a little bit. I mean, obviously everyone was still talking about it and stuff, but no one was spreading it anymore, mainly because it was a well-known fact. News kinda passes quickly in high school and remains until some new story takes its place or it stays the main story for too long. For instance, for a few weeks after homecoming, all anyone could talk about was which relationships lasted (not many, except for the serious couples in the junior and senior class) and which ones didn't (maybe 3 in 5 among the freshmen and sophomores). But very soon, cheerleaders were sleeping around and people were getting into new relationships. Homecoming still held a few memories in the back of the brain, but for most (especially the upperclassmen) it wasn't such a big deal anymore.
One of the stories that got fairly popular for a while was that the former Queen of the School, our very own Reagan Hamilton (who was actually becoming fairly well-liked among people that were not the PP), was dating Anti. And so, they were. Anti and Reagan were legitimately like the cutest couple on the face of the planet. Something about their relationship just worked, and it was adorable. Whenever I saw them in the hallway, they were always hand-in-hand, and Anti always couldn't help but give a goofy smile. Everything about him screamed: "SHE'S TOO GOOD FOR ME!" That story didn't stay popular though because: 1) neither Anti nor Reagan were particular popular at that moment, and 2) it was overshadowed by "Kate's Wardrobe Got Trashed."
