I'm ready for college now. I'm not sure I ever wanna go back into Walkerhall High School. Too many memories. Like Gabby said, I remember the good ones. But I also remember the bad. I'm okay. I just don't like to dwell on the month following Reagan's death. It hurts too much. Of course, I still have my friends. We're all enjoying our last few weeks together in Walkerhall. Gabby's neighborhood pool has been consistently occupied by a certain five teenagers. The longer I stay here, though, the more I want to leave. Tomorrow, we are all heading out. Anti is leaving for the airport to fly to Boston. The other four of us are visiting Athens and helping Meghan get set up at Georgia. Then John, Gabby and I will head back into Atlanta to Georgia Tech and Georgia State. I'm rooming with some kid named Avery Fowler. I just hope he's not a dweeb.
There's so much that I'm excited about. I'm joining marching band, and I won't be missing any football games this time. That's apparently a much more severe offense in college. Also, I've found something that really interests me besides teaching. I still wanna teach, but I also really wanna write. I've started writing in Reagan's journal, and I really enjoy it. Writing has really helped with my coping, and while I may still not be entirely comfortable in Walkerhall, there's hope for me that one day I will be okay with returning to my home town.
And with that, this story, my story, our story ends. Reagan, I know you can't hear me, but I want you to know this: I hope we meet again, whether it be in another life here on this Earth where I so dearly wish you were or in a cloudy paradise long from now. I don't even know if there is a higher power, but Reagan, my friend, wherever you are... Godspeed.
