 A girl with a hood

The rich side of the city

What does she look like

Liberty

There was nobody in the library apart from the librarian. I suddenly caught a glimpse of a moving figure in a black hoodie. She was sitting on a bean bag in one of the aisles. I went over to the librarian and asked for where I could find books on black and red strings.

She directed me over to where the person was sitting. She was flicking through books furiously, piles and piles were stacked next to her. I tried not to stare, by looking for all the books on strings. Except they weren't there.

'Hey, uhhh, can I read some of the books off your pile,' I asked trying to be polite. I didn't know whether she came from the rich side of the city and I didn't want to sound offensive.

'Be my guest,' she replied, pushing some books over towards me.

Where is it?! It must be here somewhere... I thought, flicking through the pages of books, one by one. I occasionally glanced at the other girl next to me. Why would she want to know anything about strings?

I didn't think much of it. I needed some information on natural black strings. I had one of my very own and didn't know why. My mum was already irritated over the fact that I had to wear gloves in every photoshoot.

Liberty

'So, uh, what are you looking for?' I asked trying to make some friendly conversation. She hesitated. 'I am doing a project on strings...' she replied. I nodded. 'Why are you here?' she asked me.

Should I tell her? No. Not yet. 'I'm just interested...' I responded. We stopped talking from then on as we were engrossed in our books. My eyes scanned the page looking for some kind of information on the born black strings, but I couldn't find anything.

After an hour or so, the girl slid a pink, jewel encrusted phone out her pocket and answered a call. I gaped. So she was from the rich side. She got up and made her way towards the library door.

'See you some other time, then,' I called.

'Yeah, see you.'

I turned back to the books sighing deeply. The rain was clearing up, so I could walk home soon. I tried to focus on what I was reading but my mind kept wandering. Who was that girl? I had never seen her before.

I wonder what she looks like under her hood...
