Piles and piles of books

A torn page with the answer

Who has the torn page

Liberty

'Why would a girl from the rich side come to this library?' I whispered. I had no time to think about it, though. I could hear the thunder outside, which meant more rain.

I went to the librarian and borrowed the books as quickly as possible, so that I could run back home. I left the library and it was drizzling. This didn't bother me since I had just recovered from torrential rain.

I sped walked back home and opened the front door. My mum ran up to the door hugging me. 'Sweetie, are you okay?! You have been gone for hours in a flipping thunder storm!' I rolled my eyes and sighed. 'Yes mum, I'm fine.'

'Don't do this to me, okay. I was really worried...' she replied. I nodded, going upstairs to dump the books I had borrowed on the bed. Some of them were slightly damp, but I could still read from them.

I began opening books and reading thoroughly through all of them, I didn't want to miss any detail at all. My mum popped in a couple of times to check what I was doing and she was surprised that I was so committed to finding what was wrong with my black string.

Finally, I did find something of use. Something about 'The Legend of the Lost Soulmates.' I read on...

The Lost Soulmates are a couple separated naturally. They gain red strings when they are united with their soulmate. Nobody knows whether this is a real legend, but it is said to occur every thousand years.

I gasped. There was no possible way that I was one of the two people to have a natural black string. There was no way. Even if I had a lost soulmate, how was I meant to find them. I was going to be alone anyway.

I threw the book aside. Why. Why did I have to be disconnected from my soulmate. It just wasn't fair. My soulmate could be anywhere in the world and I would never see him or her.

I glanced back at the book and something caught my eye. I ran my fingers along the ripped edge of the book, inside the spine. I gasped and threw the book on the floor. Who ripped the page out, when it was the only page I ever needed?!

Piper

I tiptoed into the house, hoping that my mother wouldn't see me. I ran up the stairs to my bedroom and uncovered a scrunched piece of paper in my pocket. I smoothed it out and strained my eyes to read it.

No way... I have a lost soulmate?! We have telepathy links? I scanned the page, eager for more information, but there was nothing else to the concept.

Apparently, we have the same ideas and interests at the same time. Maybe, I could lure them to a coffee shop. Even if I hate coffee...
