Bargaining with Mermen

Chapter 6

      "I went to the amusement park with Beomgyu, welcome home!" Taehyun gave his rehearsed line and a big hug. He did miss his parents, and he technically wasn't lying he was at the amusement park with beomgyu, ...and Soobin and yeonjun anf hueningkai- but it's not lying if he left that part out.
       He was an excellent actor in his opinion, he wasn't too nervous about them seeing through his act because it was foolproof. "Did you make any new friends honey?we were afraid you'd be lonely while we were gone." His mother asked the scary question. He didn't suspect that she asked because she knew about the Mermen, his mother probably just honestly wanted him to make more friends. He took time to consider.
     It would be more of a risk to tell them about yeonjun and Hueningkai, even leaving out the merman fact, they would ask them to come over for dinner and there were too many chances of a slip up. He decided on his response. "No, but Beomgyu and Soobin kept me company! So I was alright." He smiled and took his mother's bag into her room.
      "You believe me." His father gave a look to his mother. She had lost the bet.
   
     "There's no way.....it's not possible." Beomgyu was crossing his arms looking at the small twin bed and the couch. "It's all I have, sorry. It's better than asking your parents if all these boys could stay over at your house isn't it?" Soobin turned to ask beomgyu. He admitted, it was a better choice. His parents were home tonight, and he had already said he was staying at soobins, there was no backing out tonight. "We agreed to switch around staying at houses remember? We can't have anyone being suspiscious." Yeonjun reminded them. "We're sorry for being such a burden....we don't have houses even in the sea.." Hueningkai bowed apologetically. He felt bad for relying on these young humans.
     "No no it's no problem! Having you around is very....interesting." Soobin said and set down three blankets. "Wow you really never have guests over huh?" Beomgyu said, counting the 'supplies'.
     "Beomgyu, since Taehyun isn't walking with you in the morning can you wake someone up to walk with you to school? There are some bad people around this area." Soobin looked a bit worried, he only had to walk a block to get to his part time job. Beomgyu, from his apartment, had to walk a bit far, and Beomgyu would have to leave earlier than him.
    "Alright." Beomgyu doubted hed get mugged but agreed to sooth soobins worry. "Dibs on sleeping with beomgyu!" Yeonjun said and pounced on the couch making a 'poof' sound as he landed. He smiled and patted the spot next to him. "Yah! People are going to get the wrong idea why me?!" Beomgyu scolded him for so shamelessly choosing sleeping arrangements.
     " You probably smell nice, and your warm to him." Hueningkai said. "Soobin is like that for me too, I think it's just a side effect of being a merman, sorry. He doesn't mean it in a creepy way." Hueningkai explained more, making both beomgyu and Soobin flare red.
     "W-we have a smell?" Soobin said, sniffing his shirt. "Don't you guys heat your own bodies?" Beomgyu covered himself as if he was naked. "Well, it's really cold in the ocean, and it's just comforting, helps us sleep!" Yeonjun smiled. "If it's too weird we can bunk mermen to Mermen and human to human..." Hueningkai suggested. "No-no it's ...it's alright we shouldn't take it awkwardly, knowing mermen are real is weird enough." Beomgyu said, and just squeezed in next to yeonjun. Yeonjun smiled when he felt beomgyu against him, he was already sleepy. Hueningkai smiled and bounced on soobins bed, laying down. Soobin stood in the middle of the room looking at them." We still only have three blankets." The rooms mood suddenly got competitive. "Since I'm the owner of the blankets I'll decide!" Soobin rushed to say before the boys got up and began a war for the blankets. He heard pouts after his statement but proceeded. He gave one blanket to yeonjun and Beomgyu, he figured since they were on a couch closer together then it'd be easier for them to share. He gave Hueningkai a blanket and laid down with his own. Hueningkai reached out and turned off the lamp. "Goodnight everyone~~" yeonjun happily said. "Goodnight yeonjun." Everyone simulaniously said with a laugh.
      
       "I want Micheal to keep an eye on them while we finish the last trip, and I want him to get them before we come back." Taehyuns father was firm with his request. "But dear, they're living beings! They could really be human b-" his wife struggled to finish."THEY ARE MERMEN IM SURE OF IT!!! YOULL SEE HONEY JUST TRUST ME ALRIGHT?!!" He held his wife's hands gently and begged for her to believe him. She looked concerned but nodded."alright honey, I'll call Micheal." Michael was the Kang families personal assistant, they hired him at first to watch Taehyun while they went on business trips, but he had become a bodyguard, a chauffer, a cook, and whatever else they needed, he was part of the family.
    
-before sunrise-
       Beomgyu had to wake up and get a headstart walk to school from here. It was always better to be early than to be late. He didn't wake anyone up, no one was going to mug him before the sun arose, it wasn't worth waking the boys up. He had managed to get ready without waking anyone up, and was now finishing tying his shoes.
     "Shit-" he gently whispered to himself as the doorknob clicked a bit louder than he thought. Apparently it still wasn't loud enough to wake anyone up, he was relieved. He walked out and gently shut the door. He followed Google maps on his phone to figure out the route from soobins apartment, to his school. He saw a couple streetlights not on. "Man I should've brought a flashlight if I was going before the sun rose." He shook his head a squinted at the ground so he wouldn't trip. He froze when he heard footsteps behind him. He saw in movies that when the person tries to ignore the footsteps it ends badly. His heart was racing as he started running. Soobin was right, ok he owed him a pizza or something. Shit this guy was really catching up. He ran into another who stepped out of the alley in front of him and the guy behind him caught up. "Hey kid, why the rush?" One had asked. The other tried to pry his backpack from him. His laptop was in there, there was no way he could let them steal a school laptop! So he clutched onto it. He looked around for a spot to break away from them, but one suddenly pushed him down. Was anyone around here this early? Can he call for help??! He was scared now. "Oh is there something good in there? Must be real fancy if your protecting it, c'mon give it up and there won't be trouble kid." The other man asked, leaning in. "I-I have a friend waiting for me! Hell notice I'm gone and call the cops!" Beomgyu curled himself around his bag. There was no way to break out, he wasn't going to get mugged no way. He could only think of one more thing as he kicked one in the balls and swung at the other. "YOU LITTLE BASTARD!!" the one who had gotten hit in the balls said. He grabbed the collar of beomgyus shirt and landed a punch on his face. The two men started landing punches, they got beomgyu against the wall, damn he couldn't fight back now...they were going to kill him AND mug him.
   "HEY!!" A loud shout and a bright flashlight ran towards them. "Shit, forget it we can't get caught!" The first man dragged the second and they ran away quickly, leaving beomgyu on the ground.
       "Shit shit hey beomgyu are you alright??!!" When his eyes adjusted to the brightness of the flashlight he saw that it was yeonjun who had scared them off.
Beomgyus whole body hurt so he just gave a nod to answer him. Yeonjun helped him up. "Stop, i can walk!" Beomgyu managed to push him off, wiping the blood from his nose and mouth. The guy had taken his backpack....
      "You're hurt let me help you." Yeonjun tried to offer a piggyback but beomgyu was too pissed about his laptop. "ITS FINE!! I CAN WALK!" beomgyu regretted yelling at him because yeonjun's gaze changed. It felt predatory again and his eyes had a glazy blue on them. " Hey yeonjun wait, im sorry they just stole my laptop and-" yeonjun stopped him by picking him up forcefully and walking back towards soobins apartment.
     Beomgyu didn't move, yeonjun felt a lot stronger and less playful, now he sees why they need to fix him. He let himself be carried and saw the sun starting to rise. He was already late to school and had lost his laptop. Yeonjun forced soobins door open quietly and walked in with beomgyu to the bathroom.
     "Micheal! Could you tell? Was it a merman?" One of the things from earlier asked, leaning against the car. "The blonde one wasn't for sure, but the blue haired one got funny at the end there." Micheal had watched yeonjun take beomgyu back. Taehyuns father didn't want them to beat any of the boys up, they were only supposed to get one to him. Micheal obviously didn't know beomgyu was Taehyuns long time human friend so he started with the first one to walk out, which happened to be beomgyu. "Well have to observe their routines alright? That means all nighters guys." The two thugs nodded. "This seems a bit crazy to do on these young boys, even for something crazy like mermen." One of the thugs said. "Well, if Mr, Kang demands something it has to be right." Michael said with confidence.
