Chapter 4

Chloe started walking around. She had the flash drive in her pocket and kept a sharp eye of everyone around her. Suddenly, a lady in a purple out walked up to her.

"Hello. What's your name?" She asked.

"Who's asking?" Chloe replied.

"My name is Holley Shiftwell. I'm a secret agent from London." She answered.

"I am Chloe." Chloe said.

"The one from Creek of Angels orphanage?" She asked.

"How does everyone know my name and the orphanage I lived in?" Chloe questioned.

"My partner and I will explain tomorrow." Holley answered.

"There's more of you?" Chloe asked.

"Only 1 more that's here." She said, "now I'm going to give you this secret earphone so I can talk to from afar."

She handed Chloe the earphone.

"When will that be?" Chloe asked.

"Sometime tomorrow." Holley answered, "where will you be?"

"In the pits?"

"Perfect. Now don't tell anyone that you saw me." Holley answered as she disappeared.

At this point Chloe didn't know what to think. Was she a target? Was she a part of something? She placed those thoughts aside and walked over to McQueen and the others.

"Chloe where have you been?" McQueen asked, "you tell Mater you need to go clear your head and you disappear for nearly an hour!"

"It takes me awhile to clear my head dad." Chloe glared.

Lightning was shocked at her attitude towards him. He had never seen this side of her before. Mater then knew it might have been time to get McQueen away from Chloe.

"Uh buddy lets go this way." Mater said as he directed McQueen away from Chloe.

"Chloe va tutto bene?" Guido asked.
(Chloe is everything alright?)

"Yeah you seem a bit upset." Luigi spoke.

Chloe took a deep breath, "I'm fine. Let's get ready for the race."

~le time skip~

The race had begun and Chloe was watching the screen to see if Lightning needed to watch out for anything.

"Anything I need to know about the track little Thunder?" McQueen asked through the headset.

"You have a dirt track and a tight tunnel. But other than that you're clear as crystals." She answered.

"10-4." He replied.

Chloe then saw that one of racers car had exploded. She walked out of the tent to see if they were alright. She helped pull Lewis out of his car.

"Thanks Chloe." He said.

"No problem." Chloe replied as she returned to her station.

Suddenly, a static cake over on Chloe's right ear.

"Chloe get out of the pits." It was Holley.

"Why?" Chloe questioned.

"You have villains who are trying to get ahold of you." She answered.

Chloe then looked around and saw certain individuals that were coming her way. She silently gasped and exited out of the tent.

"Chloe where are you going?" Sarge asked.

"Guys what's going on?" McQueen asked.

"Chloe has left the pits!" Luigi panicked.

McQueen felt anger boil up in him, "someone go after her."

Mater rushed after her and Chloe hid behind a building.

"Am I good, Holley?"

"They're cornering you!" She said.

Chloe then climbed the ladder on the side of the building until someone grabbed her leg.

"Come here Chloe!" A man in orange yelled.

"Let go of me!" Chloe yelled shaking her leg.

"Chloe what are you doing? Go back to the pits." McQueen said in the headset.

"Dad just focus on that race." She replied back.

"Don't talk back to me! Do as I-"

Chloe broke the headset so she could get away from the guy that was grabbing her leg. She then got a good grip on the ladder and used her free leg to kick the guy in the face. He screamed and held his face, falling to the ground. Chloe was breathing hard and climbed to the top of the building. She saw that the race was over.

"I need to get back in." She said.

She climbed back down and made her way back into the race track. She walked in the sponsor tent and saw Luigi, Guido, Sarge, and Fillmore.

"There you are!" Luigi said, "whee have you been?"

"I needed to do something." Chloe lied.

Mater then ran in, "I couldn't find her! Oh, there she is!"

"Chloe." An angry voice spoke.

Chloe slowly turned around to see McQueen in not the happiest sight.

"Why did you leave the track?" He questioned.

"Dad there were these people chasing me." She answered.

"Who would chase you Chloe?" He questioned.

"People who know me based off my orphanage!"

"You're delusional Chloe!" McQueen yelled, "nobody will chase because of where your orphanage was!"

"They did, Lightning!" Chloe yelled back, "they grabbed my leg and tried to take me! I'm not delusional! Who knows they could've done to me and who knows how you'd react to me being kidnapped!"

"Oh for crying out Chloe! Nobody is going to kidnap you! Don't leave the track again!"

"But what if they come back?"

"CHLOE WHEN I TELL YOU TO DO SOMETHING DO IT!"

SLAP!

Chloe fell to the ground and everyone gasped. She hissed as she held her stinging cheek. She slowly stood up and tears burned her eyes. She stared directly at McQueen. Tears rolled down her face.

"You said you would never be one of them." She spoke, "but actions are louder than words."

She then ran off. Mater and the others ran after her. McQueen looked at the ground and at his hand that he slapped her with.
