Selena's POV:
Right now I am watching the LA Chargers play the Houston Texans. I don't usually come to football games but my friends practically begged me to join them today as I have been super busy working on new music, sure I've seen them but as for actually doing stuff together, not much. So when Courtney and her husband Samual said we should come to a game, I accepted. We're also joined by, Raquelle and Theresa.
I wouldn't say that I necessarily support a team in particular, but if I did, I guess the Dallas Cowboys would be that team based on my family but we're in LA and the Rams have a game on the road so it was the Chargers.
"I bet you all, when they come out for the second half, Rivers will be benched." I said and all of my friends were looking at me. "What? There are people with no arms that could throw better than he has today. They've already lost the first two games of the season, they only have a field goal and the Texans have three touchdowns and a field goal." I may not regularly watch football, but I know my stuff.
"Well their backup is hurt and they're not going to bring a rookie on the field this early into the season. Maybe if they had like two, three more losses but they're not there yet." Samual said to me.
"Listen, I may not watch football all that much, but trust me when I tell you I know more than people think. You know my cousin Johnathan plays at Clemson right?" I barked back at him. My cousin is a wide receiver in his senior year, he wanted to do three years and declare for the draft but he hurt himself pretty badly off the field last year and he felt he hadn't played enough and owed the team as it was his stupidity that meant he got hurt.
"Well, we'll see now won't we." he said as the teams came back out onto the field. The Texans were kicking off to start the half and the Chargers called for the fair catch. All of us looked to the Chargers sideline and a smug smile grew onto my face as Rivers had his helmet off and sat down on the bench and the head coach was talking to another guy.
"Well I guess you were right." Samual said to me. There was logic in his point but the fact is, that Rivers is the actual problem, not the team. He's making poor throws.
"I knew I was right." I replied getting a smirk back from him. On the first play, he throws it to a receiver who gets a first down. On the second play, he threw the ball just a little too high and it went out of play. On the third, the O-Line parted like the red sea and J.J Watt was there before anyone could blink and sacked him for a loss of seven.
So it's third and seventeen. The ball gets snapped and he's about to be sacked again, but he shrugs the defender off of him and scrambles to his left. No one is open so he just starts running, he gets the first down, dodges not one, but two more defenders before running out of bounds with a gain of fifteen yards. I guess this is what the crowd needed as they're all cheering again.
On the next play the ball was handed to the running back who got all the way to the fifty yard line and a first down. Then on the next snap, the QB scrambled to his left, was met by a defender so spun around and went the other way where another defender was waiting and as he got tackled he just through the ball and it went right into the hands of a receiver who ran and then got brought down on the ten yard line, the closest the Chargers have gotten to the endzone all game. The play was challenged by the Texans who said the QB's knee was down before he threw the ball, but it was not and the call on the field stood.
The Chargers finally have a chance for a touchdown. The ball is snapped but the quarterback drops the ball but quickly picks it back up and once again has to scramble and decides he's going for it and runs. Waiting for him on the goal line is a defender so he just tucks like a running back would and plows right through the defender for the touchdown.
Everyone was cheering and finally happy about something the Chargers had done. The team we all around the quarterback congratulating him, one handing him the ball as he actually dropped it once he crossed the goal line, but everyone wants their first touchdown ball. His celebration was simple, just looked up to the sky and pointed his finger as if to say, 'that's for you'.
"Oh my god!" I blurted out as I finally saw the name on the quarterback's jersey, 'Lafayette'.
"What's up?" Theresa asked me.
"Sam, is that quarterback called Y/N?" I asked him looking for confirmation of it being who I think it is.
"Yeah. Y/N Lafayette." Samual replied to me. "How do you know him?" he asked but I didn't reply.

Once I realised that it was Y/N playing I really started to focus on the game. I thought he played in a similar style with all the running he's done and the making throws out of nothing just like he did in highschool, he even still has the number seven but it just didn't click until I saw the name. I always knew he'd make it to the NFL. I thought he still had a year left like Johnathan though, but I guess he decided not to do his senior year.
Y/N has played his absolute ass off in this second half, the fans have already been chanting his name. He's made passes, he's blocked for runners and when he's had no passes he's ran and ever got a second touchdown for himself. He's given the team such a push that they are now behind only one touchdown, they were level at one point but the Texans got another on their last possession so they're down by seven with fifty-four seconds on the clock with no timeouts left.
Y/n took the snap on the Texans thirty-five yard line, he went to his right but slipped, luckily he put his hand down and managed to stay on his feet and just as the defender got his hand onto his jersey he released the ball to a receiver who got the much needed touchdown. While the team were celebrating, Y/n ran to his coach and they spoke quickly before Y/N ran back onto the field holding two fingers up. They don't want overtime, they want the win.
A couple fans around us were voicing their nerves as the team lined up for the snap. Y/n dropped back looking for a receiver but no one was open, so he scrambled to his right and ran straight into the endzone. The crowd started screaming and grown men were hugging each other. Y/n pulled his helmet off, leaving no doubt it was actually him, and threw it off to the side and just stood there, still with his arms out, looking like the Christ the Redeemer statue before being pounced on by his teammates.
"I think he just claimed that starting role." Samual said to us all.
"How is it you know him Selena?" Raquelle asked me.
"He was my... my cousins quarterback in highschool." I told them. It's not a lie because he was my cousins quarterback in highschool, it just isn't the whole truth either.....
A/N: So yeah, I'm doing a Selena Gomez book as I feel she's underused. This is a male Y/N but feel free to imagine its G!p if you please, I don't mind, I just thought with the story line a male was easier for me to use. But please leave a vote and a comment, let me know what you think about the this page.
