Childhood....

Do you remember
when our minds were small
but our hearts were big
we couldn't fathom the galaxies
but we could create our own
in our single imagination
it leaves me speechless
Seeing these old pictures of us
staring into our big hopeful eyes
I wonder
when did we get our feet stuck in the cement
of this cowardly thing called life
we've entangled ourselves in this net of pride
but we can only blame ourselves
did you hear me
I said we can only blame ourselves
for getting our head caught up in the stars
they should have told us
having big dreams will get you nowhere
instead of encouraging us to shoot past the galaxies
on a fuel of imagination
that will only run out just before we get there
They let us come crashing down
with no sympothy in their eyes
and band aids of I told you so's
to work a job you hate
and live your life unhappy
and to forget about those days
when our minds were small
but our hearts were big
we couldn't fathom the galaxies
but we could create our own
in our single imagination
look at us now
our minds to big for our own good
our hearts soon start to shrivel and we knew know when
but soon we never care
imagination just become a fairy tale
a thing we could never reach
or never once had

can we go back?
to when we where children.
