A New Captain

It's been a few months since Thanos was finally defeated and the snap victims returned home. However, many changes are made to accommodate. Families are together again and everyone had to make room again for the snap victims as the world is overcrowded once again. As far as the Avengers go, there is no leader yet. With Natasha as Black Widow dead along with Tony as Iron Man gone as well, the Avengers were hoping for Steve as Captain America would take over, but Steve is now an old man living in retirement. Steve handed his shield to Sam because he believes that  Sam was good enough while Bucky was still suffering from PTSD and the pain of Steve leaving the world for Peggy. 

Bucky, who could have been the next Captain America, was not ready as he still doesn't know who he is with Hydra and now Steve gone out of his life. Deep down, Bucky felt lonely and ashamed that Steve didn't want Bucky in his life since Steve went to the past and married Peggy.  Secretly,  Bucky was in love with Steve but felt that liking a man in his perspective was wrong. Its true that the world changed and you can be gay, but Bucky doesn't want to be gay all he wants is to be a normal human being. 

Sam, Bucky, and old man Steve live in a condo close to the Avengers tower. They want to live peaceful than talk about superheroes every day.  At home, Sam cooks some eggs for himself while Bucky checks on Steve to see if he's okay. Sam comes over to see what Bucky is doing. 

"Barnes, you should eat, breakfast will do you good'', said Sam eating his plate.

"No I'm fine. Steve sure sleeps a lot. He looks like his old self before the serum. I wish he wasn't this old so that he can lead us and... and..'' Bucky gets a sad look on his face as he thinks of Steve before being an old man. 

"It's gonna be okay. I miss him too but this is how it is. Steve missed a lot while in ice for 70 years and he owes it to himself'', says Sam trying to put a smile to look more happy.

"I know Sam, but I..... I .....I loved him. I really love Steve. Is it wrong to love a man since he loved someone else'', as Bucky's face looks like it's going to cry. 

"No. No it's not. Did you tell Steve''.

''No. I want to see him happy and do the things he's missed. 

Sam's cell phone begins to ring and he checks to see who is calling. It's Shield Headquarters.

"Yeah. Okay, we'll be right there''.

"Who was it Sam?'' says Bucky.

"It's Ross; he wants to see us about a mission''.

Sam and Bucky head out with their gear in the car. They message Steve that they'll be back and call the caregiver to watch Steve. At the Avengers Tower, Ross welcomes them. 

"So what's this about Ross. Everything okay?'' says Sam.

"Zemo broke free. He's escaped and we found a lot of stuff in his cell that somehow got passed our security. We need your help to find him and see what he's up to. Can you do it Sam?''

"Yes sir Lieutenant Ross. With Barnes it won't be so hard''.

"Are you sure you can do this Barnes. With your track record, I have to know if you'll do this for the people''. 

"Don't worry Ross. I came here to redeem myself and that Hydra and Winter Soldier is dead gone'', says a straightforward Bucky.

Sam and Bucky go outside and get a small helicopter. Sam decides to fly while Bucky goes to the helicopter. They separate to find Zemo fast and anxiously seek everywhere. They report each other for some weird activity.

"Sam, you see anything''.

"No. What about you?''

"Nothing. Hey Bucky, it's going to be alright, we got this partner''.

Sam tries to cheer up Bucky as he is worried that Zemo must have went far already. They want to make this mission right so the authorities could see that they are more than sidekicks.
