Ruby POVI twirled my fingers inside the elevator waiting for it to reach it's original spot instead of opening and closing on every floor. Perhaps I was a bit too excited being in one of these. But who can blame me? It's a lot more fun than people realize.
The elevator dinged for the last time as the doors slowly opened revealing Ozpin, Ms. Goodwitch and the General. A nervous smile was plastered on my face as I walked forward, "sorry it took me so long. Somebody accidentally hit all the buttons on the elevator." I looked around realizing that I can't put the blame on anybody, "it wasn't me."
Ignoring what I said, Ozpin spoke up, "please come in. How are you feeling?"
I took a few steps forward nervously under their gaze, "ok I guess." I smiled lightly to was up the mood, "I'd feel better if my bad guy record wasn't 'o' to three." Holding up three fingers I was hoping for a response only to receive nothing. "Ok, so that's the tone we're going for got it."
"Ruby," General Ironwood stepped up to me and placed a hand on my shoulder causing me to look up at him, "I feel it's appropriate to let you know that what you did last night was exactly what being a huntress is all about. You recognized a threat, you took action and you did the very best you could."
I won't lie when I say it felt good hearing the General congratulate me despite not defeating it. I let the creature of the dark escape me once more and since I didn't get there earlier, there were casualties. I wonder what it was doing there in the first place.
I blinked to shake away the thoughts, "thank you, sir."
Ozpin spoke up to gain both of our attention, "now, the General here told us what he had saw but his view is a bit vague so to say. Since you are well rested we would like to see if you have anything to add."
"Do you know what had caused such destruction and death? There was obvious signs of fighting and a giant hole in the window. Upon further analyzing, there were three unconscious guards on the scene. One outside and two in the elevator. So that means the one in charge of the killing wasn't alone." Ms. Goodwitch said with her arms crossed and shook her head, "such needless killing on their part."
I gulped knowing full well on who the killer was. My gaze dropped to the floor as I figured out now was the time to tell them the truth. About how not all Grimm are mindless. "The murderer wasn't a person. It was a creature of darkness, "I felt the room turn cold just mentioning that. "It was a Grimm."
Ironwood walked up to me, "there's no way it could have been one of those. Atlas is too well guarded to or one of them to get in. Plus, there would be no reason for it to be at the tower."
I shook my head and met his gaze, "it's not like other Grimm. It's smarter and can speak and use weapons. It's bigger than an Ursa and covered in bone plating. I could hardly believe something like it existed."
"That's because it doesn't exist. It was probably somebody looking like a Grimm to scare people. Crazy bastard," the General mumbled the last part.
Ozpin stared deeply at me making me shift uncomfortably in place, "supposed there was a beast like that roaming around. It wouldn't have survived long without accomplices. That accomplice had used the Grimm to sneak inside the tower to do whatever it is they did." He leaned back in his chair and hummed in thought, "perhaps the White Fang were in on this."
"White Fang," I said quietly finally being able to put it together. It was with Roman on the night we destroyed the Paladin and was in the bullhead with him. If they are together then the location we discovered could help us take out two birds with one stone. "While I was fighting it, it said something about a hideout in the Southeast. Just outside the kingdom."
