The box was small but contained at least thirty pills. The pills were small as well, but John had learned that they were quite powerful. After taking them at least eight days a weak, you could say he had some experience.
He slowly opened the lid and let some pills fall on the palm of his hand and took two in his other hand, a yellow one and a blue one, both engraved with a smiley face. He put the rest of the pills back in the box which he put down on his desk.
Yellow first
John placed the yellow pill on his tongue and grabbed a glass letting the water flow through his mouth.
He could feel it travel downwards to his stomach and after a few minutes of gazing at the wall, he placed the blue pill on his tongue and drank some water before swallowing it again.
And now we wait.
After half an hour the effects started kicking in. A familiar feeling crawled up his spine, euphoria. Something he only felt when being high.
The lad danced and listened to music until the drug started to wear out, the feeling of numbness was slowly crawling back to him, a feeling that frightened him even though it was all he felt these days.
He sat down when the effect was completely gone. John knew how the drug worked, first, he'd feel numb and depressed. If that wore off, he'd go back to his normal state, which was a little bit less numb and depressed.
Another box with pills stood on his nightstand, he grabbed it and took some. They were sleep pills, sleeping would decrease his hangover. He tried to sleep the entire day, but it was an impossible task, as usual.
When he finally napped for an hour or two, nightmares overcame his dreams waking him up.
It was Sunday which meant, school would start tomorrow. John's aunt always left during the weekend, he didn't know why but he didn't care, at least he could get high every weekend without anyone finding out.
John had not eaten in at least twelve hours and craved for something. He slowly walked down the stairs and grabbed a piece of cake that his aunt made for him.
He sat down at the table and took a bite from the cake, slowly bringing the fork to his mouth. He was exhausted and eating had become one of the hardest tasks lately. No wonder he looked like a bloody skeleton, you could count his ribs and his collarbone was starting to stick out as well.
John wanted to eat, he did, but he was just so tired all the time. The lad didn't do anything at school and when he came home he slept. Sometimes he'd write poems or music, but that was the only thing he did.
