Ronan leaned against the wall behind his desk, arms folded across his chest, as he stared angrily at the two men before him.
"Pray tell, how you managed to overlook this child for two whole sundowns."
The room was tense as anger rolled off Ronan in waves. Darius and Kincaid looked as if they were biting their tongues but they understood why the captain was furious. A cabin boy had been slain and an attack launched on Tortuga, and this unknown man could have been part of the Royal guards.
"I am no child." The stowaway hissed, seemingly unaffected by the captain's rage or his predicament.
"Silence, boy."
A chill raced down his spine as he stared into the merciless pirate's eyes. He knew he was in a dangerous position; afterall you don't get a name of Blood Captain for nothing.
After moments of silence had passed, with tension so thick you could slice through it, Arlow cleared his throat.
"What do you intend to do with him?" He asked, mindful of the intense stare the stowaway was giving him.
Levan sighed from his lounging position on his brother's bed, seemingly unbothered. "Drop him at the next island."
"Even if it be uninhabited?" Darius' tone was challenging as if looking for a fight.
Megan merely shrugged and laid an arm lazily across his lover's lap. "What else would you propose?"
"Kill him."
"You don't need to kill everyone Ronan."
"Says the merchant sailor," he mocked. Ronan was a pirate, a captain. It was no wonder that Arlow didn't agree with his methods.
The room grew quiet once more as the five men watched the stowaway and thought about what to truly do with him. Kincaid had remained quiet but he never took his gaze off the man. He was lean but had strength in those muscles meaning he could be put to use boards the ship. That was if the captain didn't chuck him overboard first. But Kincaid also saw how to man alternated watching Arlow intently to glaring out right at the others, especially Ronan.
Kincaid approached the Captain to quietly speak in his ear. He made sure to speak softly to where Darius did not even catch a word though he stood less than a foot away.
When he finished he moved away, hoping Ronan would listen to some reason even if Kincaid had not told him all of his intentions just yet.
The Captain's face remained unreadable as he mulled over Kincaid's words. He saw the downsides as well as potential ups and knew it was in his favor to trust him. Ronan turned and nodded.
"The boy will stay in your quarters and kept from the crew. We will discuss this further in the morrow."
