One Shots: Book Two

"you look like you need a hug"

FP, Betty, and Jellybean got into the Cooper car, they had taken Jug to StoneWall prep and obviously couldn't fit everyone into FP's pick up truck.

The ride back, save for the radio softly playing, was quiet. FP kept giving side eye glances to the young blonde in the passenger seat. His daughter asleep in the back seat. He sighed. Betty had been quiet the entire time. He wasn't sure how life would look like with these two young women, but he loves them both and so he knows he has got make sure they are both comfortable, and this dad can tell the girl who stoles his son's heart is not anywhere near comfortable or happy. She was trying to put up a front, but it wasn't going to work on him.

They pull into the drive. Jellybean wakes with a start- she basically flies out of the old stationwagon and runs into the kitchen, her Jones genes kicking in. FP follows at his regular pace. While, Betty trails behind.

By the time Betty reaches the livingroom, Jelly has retired to her room with her various snacks. She is in Polly's old room. She finds FP sitting on the couch. He beacons her over with a slap to the couch cushions by him. Betty sighs, shoulders slumped. She reluctantly sits by him.

"You look like you need a hug." He states with a small smirk.
"Yeah." She mumbles, staring off into space.
"Wanna talk about it?" He inquires.
"I just miss Jug." She states simply, not telling the whole story.
"And?" He pushes, knowing better.
"And.. I-I guess I'm nervous about living with you and Jells with out Jughead." She sighs, feeling relieve over finally admitting it out loud.
"Betty," FP starts, turning to face her better, "don't worry. We love you. It won't be awkward. I promise." He finishes.
"You promise?"
"Yes, I promise. Now, I'll go make you some tea! Jug had mentioned you like tea when you're sad." He gets up, looking back to her, "sound good?"
She nods. "Thank you Mr. Jones!"

"You're welcome and it's FP to you!" He quips back, happily. Betty finds herself feeling a little better after the talk with her future father-in-law. She may not be a Jones yet, but she does belong right where she is.
