"The world breaks everyone, and afterward, many are strong at broken places" -Ernest Hemingway

As the frost touched the glass pane, the cold creeped into the warm house. A shiver ran up her spine as she shivered underneath her thick, warm blankets. Seconds later her alarm went off, right at 6:00am. She opened her eyes slowly to shut the alarm off on her phone, her finger tapped at the 'stop' button until it stopped. She then shut the electronic device off and threw the covers off of herself, she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and sighed heavily. She hated going to school, she felt the dread, the sadness come over her once again. The only time she had a break from her mind, and emotions was when she slept. When she slept, she dreamt of nothing, her mind wondered well, if she dreamt of nothing then what was life's meaning?
Miya was averagely heightened, she weight the average female weight at her age, which was 15, she had long auburn hair that touched the crook of her back, her bangs were thick and short. She had acne here and there but it wasn't drastic, her hair was tangled into a bun, which she was going to untangle in the shower. She stood from the bed, and slowly made her way to the hallway of her house. She came to a stop infront of a close which she then opened and retrieved a black thick towel. Returning to the shower, the bathroom walls were painted orange, the bathroom mirror had a sticker on top of the left hand corner, she had placed it there when she was so very young. She looked at herself in the mirror, her reflection making her chuckle. She looked silly, her hair was a mess, stains of drool along her lip and cheek, her tank top strap hung from her shoulder. She looked like a complete mess. She stripped herself of her clothes and hopped into the shower, turning on the hot water and then the cold. She stood back as she let the hot water from the shower tap soak her body, the stream of hot water felt so good on her back. She did her usual routine, after at least 29 minutes she jumped out and into her black comforting towel. Brushing her teeth so her breath doesn't stink if she were to talk to anyone she knew, she brushed her hair it and her bangs before heading back to her room. Her room was painted purple, she had a black dresser which she barely used, she had a book shelf that held all her favorite books. And her bed, that she loved to sleep in. Above her bed was a large pinned down rosary, which used to be her grandma's, but before her grandma's it was her late uncles decoration. They had put it on his casket before the funeral, her grandma held onto it as closure since. Until she gave it to Miya, Miya treated it so well, she hung it up and in the middle of it she had pictures of her mother, her late friend, her late uncle pinned on a red bandanna. Her family were also known for gang violence, and gang affiliation.
The girl put her clothes on which consisted of a black turtle neck, a black windbreaker and black ripped jeans and of course black converse. She put her hair up into a long high ponytail. And began to do her makeup. She looked at herself in the mirror and snickered a bit before pulling the backpack over her shoulder, beginning to walk out of her desolate house. She stepped onto the cold concrete of her staircase, she looked out at the pitiful streets of her small town. Her town was located in the middle of Lethbridge and Cardston, it looked abandoned and rugged. The houses looked like they were going to fall apart, only few nice houses existed due to new renovations. She sighed as her town made her feel trapped, and overwhelmed with hopelessness, her only dream was to escape and leave that town and never return.
Miya heard the stroll of the buss, she closed her eyes for a second before shaking her head and walking towards the bus stop. Watching as the big, yellow bus pulled up infront of her, she stuffed her hand into her pocket before getting on, stepping up the steps and towards her seat which was located in the back of the bus. She sat with her earphones in and her music blasted, ignoring her best friend who was trying to get her attention. When he couldn't get her attention he threw a small gum wrapper at her face. It hit her cheek, she looked at him with a death glare, slowly taking her earbud off she spoke. "What the fuck do you want?" She sneered as her friend threw his hands up in surrender. He laughed, "my bad! Forgot you're not a morning person" he said with another laugh following. Miya shrugged, "I just don't want to see that douche bag again..." she said with a sigh. "Felix, can I kill myself now?" She said with a pout, Felix shook his head and lifted a finger, "no! I need you here, and so does Tyrese! And everyone else I don't care how much you hate it!" He said as he threw a bottle of coffee at her, he pulled it from his large gym bag. "Here's some energy for now...I'll get some more to get you through the day, okay?" He said with a smile.
