The sound of heart monitors started to echo in Jess's ears before she slowly opened her weak eyes and found herself staring at a white, tiled ceiling and finding where she was laying much more comfortable than the park ground where she last remembered about what happened. The twins and their supposed "helper" had beat her and Krystal to breaking point where both of them had collapsed to the floor until they admitted about what Jess said about them on the internet. She rubbed both her eyes with her hands and realised where she was. Not the park, not her home, not the hospital but her school medical room.
She started to sit up in the bed when she realised something and started to panic. Where was Krystal? Was she still in the park laying there or did the twins drag her away and inflict more damage to her? She looked around the room and started to breathe heavily. Luckily, in the corner of her eye, she saw the other bed in the room being occupied by none other than Krystal herself, sound asleep or still unconscious. Jess breathed a huge sigh of relief. She then went to get up when a sharp pain ran through her body like a bolt of lightning. She whimpered and screamed as she went to look at her side. A wound the size of a tennis ball was there. It was as if she had been impaled with a stick.
The noise of her pain and suffering caused Krystal to stir and wake up, also with no idea with where she was. She couldn't move any of her body except turning her head. She looked around her surroundings and eventually remembered where she was. She then heard a faint voice, "Krystal! Krystal! You awake?" She tilted her head so she could she the other bed and there lied her best friend, making close eye contact with her. "The question is are you?" she answered back.
Jess was about to answer when a man and a woman walked into the room. Both girls knew them both very well. The woman was Mrs Dail who was the school nurse and looked after everyone who was ill or got an injury and the man was the headteacher, the principal, the leader of the school; Mr Logan. "Oh wonderful. You're both awake." said Mrs Dail, "How are you both feeling?" The two of them looked at each other then looked at the adults. "Well, if Mr Logan doesn't mind us using the word but like absolute shit is how we're feeling." Jess replied. Mr Logan chuckled to himself, "It's alright Jessica. You're ok in this incident. You both are. And that's what matters here." They all nodded in agreement. Krystal somehow managed to drag herself up into an upright position and then asked, "Will someone please tell me and Jess what the hell is going on? All we can remember is having a boot in the face then suddenly waking up in here. How long where we out for?"
Mrs Dail scrathced the back of her head, "You've been out for about seven hours. School literally just finished. A student found the two of you lying in the park nearby in blood-stained uniforms with bottles of Cool-Aid slung everywhere and your bags ripped and torn. You were assaulted by two students of this school and one of their friends who does not attend any type of education. There was witnesses of this incident who have evidence that you were attacked in the park this morning and beaten to what you're like now." The two girls looked at each other in surprise as they thought nobody saw the incident. "So what has happened then?" said Jess, "Where are they? Have they been dealt with?"
Mr Logan came over to the two girls bed, "We've not seen the twins all day and the helper has apparently been found by the police after blood was found on his arm belonging to you two. He's been arrested on suspicion of assault. However, when the girls are in, they will be called to my office where they will find out they are no longer students of this school." Jess looked at Krystal in excitement. "They have pushed my buttons far too many times as this school and this incident has beaten them all ten times over. It's one thing to start a fight here, but outside of school where they have almost murdered two students using fists is something that the police deal with and they should be behind bars."
The two girls were gobsmacked by their principal's decision but respected it very well. "Thank you, sir. So much. It means a lot." said Krystal. He smiled at them both, "Forgive me for not seeing this sooner, girls." Jess managed to utter out a few words from her pain saying, "It's fine. At least it's all over now." He nodded, "Damn right it is. You two take care and get some rest. You need it. Then I want you back and ready to work again since you both are sparks in the classroom." They nodded, "Yes sir." they both said. He then turned and walked out the room. "I've contacted both of your parents." Mrs Dail said, "Thay are on the way here now to pick you up. Get some rest, the both of you. It's a big recovery to go." The two of them nodded and waited for their respective parents to arrive.
So their big problem was out of the way but it was still a long road ahead on the road to recovery with wounds like they had. And maybe serious help for them was just around the corner...
