Chapter Three

I woke up the next morning and was happy to wake up and find out I had no dreams of murder. I got out of bed and got ready for the day. Like most days I skipped school and walked to the bay where Jake and I agreed to meet. The cold chill of the bay sent shivers down my spine so I wrapped my scarf around my neck. As Jake pulled up with his car into the car park I pulled out the address of Clifford's house and the images of Clifford drawing the knife out of the woman's abdomen. I ran up to him and we awkwardly stood in front of each other and our eyes met but we didn't talk. The headlights of his car beamed through the mist of the morning and we gazed into each other's eyes, well I thought he was gazing into my eyes but he was just looking at me and started talking.

"So are we just going to awkwardly stand here or go?" He laughed and I laughed along with him.

"Yeah, lets go" I replied with a laugh at the end. I got into the passenger seat in the car and he got into the drivers seat. Some rock band was playing on the radio and the leather seats in the car made me feel warm. I lay back in the seat and he started driving out of the car park.

"Do you know where we are going?" Jake asked as his eyes were glued to the road and he moved the hand wheel into the direction of the exit of the car park.

"Yeah" I replied as I handed him a sheet of paper with the address written in black pen. He handed me his phone with the GPS app opened and I typed in the address and the route started. Jake drove according to the route and it was full of silence and rock music. Jake pushed a switch in the car and the heather turned on and the heat radiated onto my body and the goose bumps on my body slowly dissolved back into my skin.

"So why are we driving here?" Jake asked with his eyes glued on the road.

"I just want to see the place" I replied with a crack in my throat as I looked out of the window as we drove.

"Stop lying to me" Jake remarked as the car sped up slowly.

"What do you mean I'm lying to you?" I asked as my hand begun to tremble as I continued looking out the window.

"I can tell when someone is lying to me. For starters your voice cracked, then you looked away from me. Generally, non-pathological liars cannot look at one in the eye whilst they lie. You my friend just ticked every box in the 'how to catch a liar' criteria" He stated as he looked at me for short periods of time while he continued driving. I was slightly angry because I didn't want to tell anyone about my condition, it was a secret and I wanted it to stay this way. "So tell me, why are we driving to this random location?" He insisted.

"I had a dream Jake," I replied as I continued looking out the window, I couldn't bear to look at him, I was too scared. I didn't feel comfortable telling him but I thought as if I brought him into the situation so he was worthy of knowing my big secret.

"You had a dream?" He asked puzzled.

"Can you keep a secret?"

"Of course"

"Okay," I coughed and I started speaking with my hand shaking slightly from pure fear "I had a dream the other night about a girl getting murdered by this man named Clifford, he must have been her husband or boyfriend I'm not to sure. Anyways, the next day when I woke up the dream I had of the murder was on TV and I was scared and I had to tell someone so oddly enough I went to church and talked to a priest. He told me I have prophecy disease in which I can see other people being murdered and the dreams are always real." I said and his face turned slightly pale. I decided to not tell him about the priest having the disease because the priest did not want anyone knowing he had the disease himself. Jake looked slightly scared as his jaw was opened slowly. This time he did not look back on me; he just kept his eyes glued to the road.
