Imagine you've known Daryl since the Quarry and everyone's become settled in Alexandria and you're planning on inviting him to be your date at Deanna's party but he friend-zones you.
You looked out the window noticing the sun going down, focusing back on your work you put your weapons back in the infirmary.
Tonight is Deanna's party, a welcome party for you, Rick and the others to settle in and to get to know everyone who already lives in Alexandria.
Over time you grew fond of Daryl, you were both very similar to one another and there was just plain chemistry between the two of you.
After what happened at Hershel's farm, the prison and terminus, you were no longer scared to tell him how you felt about him.You had no idea how long you've got left so you thought it's better sooner than never.
"Hey" you smiled at Daryl, he smiled back at you.
"Sup" Daryl reloaded his arrows.
"You going to Deanna's party tonight?" You asked sitting next to him.
"Nah." He looked down at his feet, you moved closer to him, stroking his cheek playfully.
"Why not?" You asked "I was hoping you'd be my plus one." You hinted, hoping Daryl would realise what you were after.
Daryl scoffed "yeah, let's just stick to being friends, I don't want no romance novel."
Your face softened as he said that, you had to blow it off and hide your feelings but it wasn't going to be easy.
"y/n?" Daryl called.
You snapped out of your daze, "oh yeah, cool." You stood up and you walked back to your house.
"Friend Zoned.." you whispered to yourself "okay."
Getting into your home you took a hot shower and shaved, you plucked at your eyebrows and wore a little make up and put on a strapless black dress that Jesse gave you.
Your long hair started to touch your hips, it's been that long since you had a hair cut - you didn't even notice.
You started to feel like a princess but you shook your head "no" you told yourself, "this isn't a fucking fairytale."You picked up your scissors and started to cut your hair, giving it layers until the length reached the top of your breasts.
You looked at yourself once more and nodded, "I can't have anything get in the way."
~
Opening your front door you nearly bounced back in shock, Daryl stood there with his hand in position to knock.
"Daryl you okay?" You asked.
Daryl looked you up and down and paused before shaking his head "Uh, yeh, I'll talk to you later."
He turned around and walked away, you walked out of your house and closed the front door.
"See you later then." You shouted to him.
It was nice to see everyone again, baby Judith, Carl, Sasha, you liked reunions and parties - the last one you went to was before the world turned. New faces surrounded you, the people of Alexandria seemed extremely kind.
You grabbed a party plate grabbing bits of food olives, salad and pasta, you got yourself a drink and sat down.
"Hey." Rick approached you, "where's Daryl?"
You put down your drink and swallowed. "Dunno" you replied "I invited him to join me but he wasn't interested."
"I'm sure he'll find you later, if not I'll talk to him, you know what he's like when meeting new people." Rick said, taking another sip from his glass.
You nodded and stood up, "thank you."
Walking into the kitchen you folded up your empty party plate and put it in the bin, hearing a unfamiliar voice call out to you. You turned around "Sorry, what was that?" You asked.
A tall man stood in front of you, wearing a long sleeved green shirt and blue denim jeans. "I'm Spencer" he smiled "my mother Deanna took you in."
You smiled back "of course! Well, it's nice to meet you Spencer. I'm y/n." The kitchen went silent and it felt quite awkward since everyone else was socialising in the living room.
"Enjoying the party?" Spencer asked you, attempting to break the silence between you. "I am yes, it's been awhile believe it or not." You answered, tucking your shorter layers behind your ear.
Spencer laughed and nodded "yeah.. so listen, I was wondering if you would like to go on a date, maybe get to know one another better?" He asked.
You cocked up an eye brow, "a date? Where on earth would we go, I mean, have you seen what's going on?" you replied.
Spencer frowned, "Well maybe I can show you around Alexandria sometime."
You didn't want to be a bitch and Daryl did friendzone you, so got didn't want to put all your eggs in one basket waiting for someone to like you back when the chances of that happening were slim to none.
"Okay." You nodded, "I'll agree to going on the tour but we'll see how we feel okay? It's go to be natural." You added, "I'm going to go home now, but swing by my door whenever you want to show me around." You smiled.
Spencer followed you out of the kitchen, "Can I walk you home?" He asked. You nodded "I'd like that."
The walk home wasn't very lively but the crickets in the distance helped the eerie silence around the two of you, you reached your front door and walked towards it.
"Thank you for walking me home." You smiled at him, giving him a hug.
"My pleasure, I look forward to seeing you." He replied, "Goodnight." He smiled, walking away.
You turned to your front door unlocking, sensing someone behind you, turning around you saw Daryl peeking out from the side of the house.
"Glad you had a good time." He commented, sounding a little pissed off.
You scoffed "I asked you out and you blew me off Daryl, you weren't interested." You replied, "I'm not dating him, he offered to walk me home and I accepted."
Daryl walked up the steps and stood in the doorway so you couldn't close the door. "I didn't blow you off on purpose." He growled.
You were getting tired of his bullshit and started losing your temper, "look Daryl, I'm tired, I tried reaching out to you and it didn't go my way and that's fine. Can you just let me sleep? I'll talk in the morning but I'm too tired for this." You complained.
Daryl nodded and moved out of the way, walking away from your porch.
"I'll get here before he does."
