A knock sounded on my door and I opened it expecting it to be Evie or Ben; however, I was greeted by a long faced Fairy Godmother with an envelope in her hand. She sighed and handed it to me. "I didn't open it, I felt that it wouldn't be right for me to open something addressed to you. "What is it, am I in trouble"? I asked unsure of what this is about. "Open it, I can imagine it isn't good. It came from the Isle". Fairy Godmother sighs and looked at me.
I scanned the envelope that looked familiar from the Isle, I opened it carefully and pulled out a sheet of paper it was from my father, Hades. I wonder what could he want I wondered to myself and then I read the message.
My dearest daughter Mal, I've kept this from you for far too long and it's time that I finally tell you what's really going on. I'm very sick, my lungs are deteriorating with each passing day. I'm so glad we were finally able to reconcile before my disease progressed and causes me to lose contact with you and everyone else. I love you, Mal and I can promise you one thing is that nothing will split us apart again. Love, your father, Hades
My eyes welled up in tears as I read the letter. I can't imagine what he is dealing with right now. All those times Celia and I joked about him napping in his lair, about how he was losing his powers, how he was once a god and now he's nothing. I can't imagine how that must feel. "I take it back. I take it all back. I'm so sorry, Dad". I whispered aloud. I look up to a very concerned Fairy Godmother as she walked up to me and asked "Is everything okay, Mal"?

I looked at Fairy Godmother with tears in my eyes and couldn't help but lose composure and cry my eyes out. "No Fairy Godmother, it's not okay my dad is dying". I replied to her through the tears. "Oh Mal, I'm so sorry". Fairy Godmother replies and walked up to me and wrapped me into her warm embrace as I bawled.

"Do you need a moment, Mal"? Fairy Godmother asked as I finally tried to regain my composure. "No, I'm fine. Really". I lied. I wasn't fine, I was scared and worried about my dad. To think I could lose him forever, just as I got to know him now. It's heart wrenching. "Are you sure Mal"? Fairy Godmother asked. "Yes, I'm sure". I replied and sat at the edge of my bed as Fairy Godmother exited the room. I lied down and curled into fetal position and cried for hours on end.

Finally, a knock on my door sounded but I was too drained to walk out of my bed to go answer it. "Come in" I choked out. Evie walked into my room and sighed. "Mal, are you okay? We were wondering where you've been. Have you been here this entire time"? Evie asked concerned. I sat up and held onto Evie's hands and sighed. "No, Evie, I'm not okay and yes, I've been here this entire time I just got horrible news". I explained holding back from crying again. "Horrible News? Oh no did Ben call off the wedding"?! Evie asked shocked. "No, no Evie it's not that". I tried to explain to her without crying again. "My dad, is... dying" I replied trying not to cry.

"That only means one thing" Evie said. "What is that"? I asked out of curiosity "We bump the wedding date up". Evie replies. "Evie... that's all you care about? My dad is DYING and all you can think about is getting married"! I began to cry again. "No Mal, that's not all I care about. I care about you and your father and I want him to walk you down that aisle and I want him to see you get married, you know before he... dies".
"No, we have to tell Ben and his parents first it's only right that we do". I sighed "You're right we should tell them and tell them everything". Evie agreed.
