The month of October flew by like the wind, and half of November flew by too. Every weekend I stayed at Brett's house. We hung out every other day during the week because he didn't want me to stray away from my friends. We sat in English class on a Friday morning, reading working on our last projects for our book we were reading. Mr. DeKeller stood in front of the class and let out a light cough.
"Okay class stop what you are doing." He commanded. We all put our pencils and equipment down to listen to him. "Monday starts Thanksgiving Break and that means we lose a week of school. So after next week we are finishing up our novels so we can move on to our next novels."He clasped his hands together.
After that the rest of the day moved by like a snail. It must have been every students antcipation to get out school for break that it just made the day dread on. At the end of the day I stopped by Brett's lockers and waited for him. This was our routine by now. On Friday I would go to his locker, while he packed up, then we would go to his house.
He finished up and he took us to his house. We sat in the kitchen eating an apple and just talking. "Babe I wanted to talk to you about something." The words blurted out his mouth like they had been on his mind all day.
"Okay, whatever it is I'm sure we can make arrangements on it." I responded. I was sitting at the island, so he joined me.
"I was thinking maybe we could tell your parents about us." He suggested.
I half way chocked on the apple piece in my mouth after he said that to me. "I'm not sure about that." He finished chocking.
He placed his hand on mine. "We've been with each other for over a month now, and I've been around your parents a lot and it seems like they love me." He said as his words wrapped around my mind.
"They do love you."
"But?"
"I'm just not sure it's the right time yet. I promise it will be soon, but I have to make sure I'm ready to tell them."
The look of disappointment ran over his face. I grasped his hand in mine and smiled. "That doesn't mean it will never happen though. It will I just have to feel like it's the right time." I continued.
He nodded his head. "I understand." I kissed him on the cheek.
I stayed all through the weekend. I went home around five on Sunday. I walked through the door, trying to get upstairs without running into my detective of parents, but I was unlucky. "Honey in the kitchen." My mom yelled.
I sighed roughly, slumping of the foyer of my house into the kitchen. Before I entered the kitchen I turned my horrid walking into happy walks. I looked at both my parents sitting at the kitchen table waiting for me.
"What's wrong?" I had to ask because it looked like something bad happened.
My mother giggled at me. "Oh nothing honey, we just wanted to talk to you."
Oh god, when she says that it's a never good thing. "About what?" I asked as I sat down with them.
"Well we've been getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner." She continued.
"Yeah I know."
"We want you to invite Brett over."
She wants Brett to join us? My stomach tightened up. I started sweating lightly. "W-why do you want him to come over for dinner?" I was shocked.
My Dad patted my thigh several time before opening his mouth. "Well because we like him of course. He seems to be a really good friend of yours so we though why not." He stumbled over his words. My Dad likes sounding like a big macho man, so for him to say something caring like that makes him awkward.
