At all costs I did everything I could to avoid Brett. At this point if I saw him I would cave in and tell him how much of a jerk I had been last night. I was wrong, but so was he. We both were wrong and could have approached that in a different way.
I absolutly loved English class, but I skipped it Friday. I didn't want see Brett, let alone sit next to him. I went downstairs to the basement and sat in the janitors room. They were never down here during school hours unless they were getting something to clean a mess up, which rarely happened.
After the bell rang I followed my normal schedule. That's how it was for the next week in a half. I would skip English, follow my schedule after that, if I saw Brett in the hallway I would avoid eye contact and run the other way. He would send me text messages or call me, and I would still ignore him.
After that week in half after school I heard a knock on my door. I hadn't been talking to anyone. I maybe said a few words to my friends here and there, I ignored my parents and brother. I was just doing everything to avoid people. I felt to betrayed to talk.
"Go away." I yelled out.
"No, now open the door." A very familiar voice came from behind the door. I got off my bed and opened to door to see Ian standing there. Without even inviting him in he walking right into my room. I gave him that what the hell look and closed the door.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" He asked me.
"Nothing." I slumped my shoulder.
"Bullshit. Don't lie to me. You haven't been to english in god knows how long, and you've been distant."
"It's complicated."
"No it's not. Maybe talk to Brett. He wants to talk to you about the parent situation and everything, but you want to be a jackass and ignore him."
"How do you know about that?" I asked.
"Well jeez now you seem interested in something." He blurted out. "I sat down and talked to Brett a couple days ago. He is really hurt and misses you."
"Well he should have thought differently awhile ago."
"Jesus Christ, you can't be mad at the boy for not wanting to tell his parents about you guys, just because you did."
He was right, even though I didn't want him to be, he was right. I had no right what so ever. "I know."
"Then talk to him for crying out loud."
"Okay I will."
"Do you want to go on a double date with Isabella and I?" He asked going completly off subject.
"What?" I asked in a confused tone.
"Do you, Landen Jones, want to go on a double date with Isabella Spring and I, Ian Goodling?" He slowly said to me.
"I have no one to go with." I answered his question.
"Yeah you do, you have Brett." He talked to me like I was dumb and it somewhat offended me.
"He probably won't go after the way I treated him."
"He said he would if you would talk to him before Saturday."
"Fine, if everything goes good between us I will go with you."
"Thanks bro." Ian said walking out of my room.
"Wait." I quitely yelled.
He turned around and gave me big eyes. "Now what?"
"Isabella doesn't know." I forgot all about that until now.
