It's almost Christmas. Finally. It's the first Christmas they are going to spend together. They are excited, for they have things planned.
Today they will get their Christmas Tree after school.
Mitchell wakes up first, as always.  Marie is asleep on the couch this time, with "The Great Gatsby," on her chest. Mitchell chuckled, and decided to let her sleep there. At least it's not up against the door. Believe it, that happened.
Mitchell chuckled, and kissed her forehead.  He put on his Christmas sweater, which he puts on almost every day to college.  His hair and eyes match the colors of it perfectly. Now, he just has to survive History, and then get cooking. He goes to college for cooking. He's pretty good at it. He gets ready for college, and kisses Marie goodbye. Soon, it's time for Marie herself to get to school.
"Wake up, Marie. You'll be late. Come on, get up now," Marie mumbled to herself.
She ate a granola bar, and put on a Fahrenheit  451 tank top, with a hoodie on top. She got on her winter Ravenclaw hat, and went out the door with her cello and books. She hates science, but she only goes to this school for the good Music program, and for Mitchell, to see him more.
Mitchell got through the day, and got home. He has received some ... surprising news.  It had to do with a competition for cooking class. It was great news, just... Mitchell cooked dinner- chicken with shrimp. Sooner or later, Marie came home.
She ran through the door. She came up and hugged Mitchell.
"I'm so excited! The Christmas Tree!" Marie loved Christmas. It was the one day her parents and brother were home, when she was a child.   Plus, the couple always have a great time on that day.
Mitchell chuckled. It was so cute when she was excited.
"Let's eat, and then we can get the tree, babe. I have another surprise up my sleeve," Mitchell said, with his smirk. Well, two surprises. The news, and he's taking her somewhere.
"Okay, Mittens," Marie said, smiling, and sitting at the table.
They ate their food, and drove to the Tree Place. Marie ran out the car, pulling Mitchell, whose also running, but has the news on his shoulders.
They picked out the perfect tree, and tied it to their car.
"Where are we going?" Marie said, smiling.
"You'll find out soon, babe," Mitchell said, smiling as well.
He is excited for the surprise. But the place where they are going is where he will break the news.
They finally arrived, at the book store.
"Thank you!" Marie said, kissing him on the cheek.
The couple walked into the store, and Marie was in her happy place, with the best person in the world.
After they looked through the whole store, they sat down, near a coffee shop. they got tea and coffee.
"Marie, I have something to tell you," Mitchell said, taking her hands into his. Ice cold.
"Yes?" Marie asked, looking concerned. Mitchell hated breaking this to her.
"Remember the contest I entered, the cooking contest?"
                                     "Mhm,"
                                      "I won,"
                                      Marie hugged him.
"I don't see what's so bad about that. that's wonderful!"
"Well, the prize is shooting a live Christmas cooking special...."
The smile off her face remained, but her eyes looked sad.
"You won't be home on Christmas?" she asked, quietly.
"N-no, I'm so sorry, I can stay if-"
"Mittens. This is a once in a life time opportunity. If you don't go, you will never get this again. You will be on TV. Doing what you love. That's what I want; you to be happy," Marie said, smiling, with tears in her eyes.
Mitchell loved this girl. She was so selfless about it.
"I'm so sorry. After I come back from California (that's where the show is filmed), we will have another Christmas. Okay?"
Marie nodded, and hugged him close, for the longest time, trying not to cry.
