Picture is Gabe and Gabi
-------------------
After running out of the restaurant, we decided to keep on running straight to the airport where we were able to get on the next flight out of L.A. and to Manhattan. Home, sweet home. So after landing in New York, Gabe and I collected our luggage and quickly made our way out of the airport, looking left and right until our eyes landed on the sleek, black limo that was always awaiting our arrival whenever we left the city. Henry, our driver, stepped out to greet us and put our bags away for us. We always complained that we could do it ourselves but with a wave of a hand he would immediately dismiss us and tell us he loved us too much to have us pull a muscle from lifting heavy luggage.
"Miss Gabi, Mr. Gabe, how lovely it is to have you both back in New York." Henry smiled at us while opening up the door for Gabe and me to make our way inside. By now, we had drawn a crowd, nothing too dramatic considering it was 11pm but a small group of people had gathered to see the new champ leaving their everyday airport. I waved my hand at the fans through the window as Henry began to drive away. Considering it was late and our house was three hours away from this specific airport, Henry dropped us off at a hotel and promised to pick us up first thing tomorrow morning to take us to management's building. Gabe and I made our way inside as it had started to rain and quickly checked in before heading towards the elevator. We reached our room and immediately ordered room service. The usual hot fudge sundae for Gabe and brownie a la mode for me. After changing into our pajamas and flipping through various channels on the tv, we settled on watching How I Met Your Mother while we waited for our food to arrive. We were in the middle of laughing at a sarcastic remark Barney had made when a knock on the door interrupted us. Our first thought was room service until a wave of suspicion coursed through our bodies as the knocking on the door become louder and more frequent.
"Gabe, go get the door," I ordered my fellow twin in a hushed voice.
"No way, you get it!" whisper-shouted a paranoid Gabriel.
"Jeez, you're such a wimp," I told him as I nervously made my way to the door. The knocking had stopped but I still acted very cautious as I put my hand on the door knob and began to turn it. The door opened to reveal nothing but a plate of brownie a la mode and a hot fudge sundae lying on the floor. I looked around the hall for a sign of the person that brought it but no one was around so I reached down to grab our food when I noticed a neatly folded piece of paper stuck to the bottom of the plate. I made my way back into the security of our room and set our food down on the bed as I sat alongside Gabe and showed him the note.
"They left a paper" I told him.
"Read it!" said Gabriel anxiously as he began scooping ice cream into his mouth. I opened the folded paper and once my eyes read the words on the page, I gasped and began to reread the words over and over again, hoping that I had not just read what I thought I did. I guess Gabe recognized the scared expression on my face as he took the paper out of my hands and read it himself.
New York is lovely isn't it? Nothing compared to the flames of L.A. wouldn't you agree?
See you at the octagon.
I couldn't speak. I didn't know what to say, I didn't know what to do. I was scared. Yes, I'll admit it, I, UFC Champion, was terrified. I looked to Gabe for some kind of answers as to what on earth was going on but he was left speechless as well. Before I could announce how scared I was, Gabriel reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
"This is no time to be making phone calls! How about we get out of here, sell our penthouse, and consider moving to Antarctica?" I exclaimed as he ignored my cries and continued to type in the number of whoever he was so desperate to talk to at a moment like this. He held the phone up to his ear and I could vaguely hear the ringing on the other end until someone picked it up.
"We've got a problem... Cancel her practice, she's not stepping another foot into that gym and while you're at it cancel her match next week too... No, it's a long story, it's just not safe anymore... I have a plan. Remember the number I gave you when Gabi was in her first professional fight? Call it right now." Gabe spoke before hanging up the phone abruptly and telling me to get dressed quickly because we were 'going out'.
"Wait, who was that? What plan do you have? And why on earth did you cancel my match?" I questioned, truly confused as to what Gabe was talking about. He ignored my questions and continued to get dressed, as did I. Once we were ready to go, we made our way downstairs and checked out of the hotel. Once outside, we easily spotter Henry leaning against the limo, already waiting for us. Gabe told him to go to Florence's, a very fancy diner mainly only reserved for people with business meetings.
"Why are we going to Florence's? And would you please just tell me who you talked to and what this plan you have is about?" I impatiently asked my brother.
"I was talking to Morgan, and well, I'll tell you my plan once we get there," Gabriel explained before we pulled up to the restaurant just minutes after we left the hotel.
"You might not like it anyway," he muttered under his breath but I heard him perfectly. I pondered over the idea of me not liking one of Gabriel's plans but it didn't make any sense. We're twins... We usually agree with each other's ideas, it's a twin thing. Why wouldn't I like this one?
