Pinky Swear

"Kev, can we have a deal?"

"What is it, Nik?"

There was a moment of silence between them. Nicole sighed before saying what she wanted to say.

"Let's play love." She finally said.

"What? How?"

"Let's pretend as if, I am your past and you are my past. It would help us move on Kev. That's the only way I could think of."

"Right.. I know I can do it but what if I fell for you?"

"Come on, Kev! Are you kidding me? You won't fall in love with me. It's close to impossible."

"No, it's not. You're pretty, sweet, smart, charming. What would a guy ever want? But, look, I may not fall in love with you because I'm thinking about Alice. But now that I want her out of my life, it's not impossible that I'd fall for someone like you." He was serious when he was saying that.

"Hahaha! I'm telling you, it's impossible." Nicole said while laughing.

"I told you it's not."

"Fine. But, what if you fell for me but I didn't catch you? I don't want to leave you broken."

"Nik, we don't know what may happen. Just trust, we need it."

"Okay, uhh, well, if you say so. So are we okay with the deal?"

"I'm okay with it. I think it's for the best, for us as well."

"Me too."

"But, you must promise that you won't cry over your past any more."

"I promise. You too, you have to promise you won't bring her up to a conversation anymore."

"I promise."

"Pinky swear?"

"Oh, Nik!"

"Kev? Please? Pinky Swear?"

"Fine, pinky swear."

"So, Kev, remember that we pinky sweared okay?"

"Yes, we did, I know we did."

"Hahaha! Then, let's go?"

"Where?"

"Duh, I have to go home now."

"Okay, okay."

They went inside the car. Suddenly, Nicole fell asleep. Kevin looked at her.

"You're beautiful.. You're one of a kind.. You're different.. Who wouldn't fall for a girl like you? Yes, I may not, BEFORE. But now, I am willing to open my heart again to someone like you.. But I can't say it now, Alice is still on my mind.. Her memories.. Everything.. But, you, I need you, to move on.. To know what real love is.." He stopped for a while. "Darn, what am I saying?! It can't be. I just, just need her to move on.. I can't fall for a girl with the.. same mistake.."

Then, he kept driving 'til they reached Nicole's house.

When they were there, Nicole was still sleeping.

"Nik! Wake up!" Kevin shouted right in her ear.

"Shzz, Kev?! Why do you need to do that?!" Nicole reprimanded Kevin.

And she saw him, laughing.

"You look so cute in your reaction Nik! You should've seen your face! Hahaha!" Kevin teased her.

"Kev, I'm serious here."

"Well then, I'm sorry, Miss."

"But, promise me you won't do it again!"

"I promise. Pinky swear?" He smiled at her.

"Pinky swear." They both smiled.
