Agnes POV
"You can't just keep me here!"
"Is that a challenge I hear?"
"No, it's me telling you that I'm going to go for a walk, and you're not going to try to stop me."
"Seems unlikely, but it's nice to have dreams."
This argument is clearly going nowhere. Killian has been keeping me in the clubhouse all week. I haven't even been going to school. My ribs hurt a lot still, but I don't want to be useless and lazy. But it's hard to do anything physical when Killian tries to carry me everywhere.
I let out a groan of frustration and sit down on the bed.
The clubhouse dog Kansas comes into the room and put his head in my lap. I run my fingers through his soft fur as he wags his tail.
Killian takes a seat next to me, but I turn away from him and continue petting Kansas.
"Angel, I know you're mad right now, but I watched you get hurt. I want to make sure you're not putting yourself through anything you don't have to."
I feel him run his fingers through my hair.
He brings his mouth to my ear.
"We both know, you can't stay mad at me for long." He says, his voice deep and husky.
Resisting the urge to shiver, I turned to him. He was much closer than I was anticipating. "I'm not mad exactly, I just still want to be able to do stuff."
"I know angel, I'm sorry I've been like this," he tells me. "It's just there's been some shady stuff going on in the club lately, and they don't want anyone riding alone, let alone walking alone."
I furrow my brows. "Are we in danger?"
He buries his hand in one side of my hair, eyes scanning my face. "At the moment, no. But it could get pretty bad. I won't let anyone hurt you though. I promise. And I'm so sorry about hitting you. I'll be more careful."
"It's okay. I shouldn't have gotten so close. I don't blame you, I was just in shock, I guess." I explain.
"Promise?" He asks pleadingly.
I smile and nod. He looks me right in the eyes. It becomes difficult to breathe again as I see the intensity in them. His grip on my hair tightens. I bite my lip.
He leans closer to me, so close our noses are touching. I feel his minty breath on my lips.
The door then bursts open with a BANG.
Kansas has rediscovered his tennis ball with the help on Lana, who stands behind him with a mischievous grin.
"Not interrupting are we?" She winks at me, and I feel my entire face go red. Darn her.
Killian's face reads murder. Lana's murder probably.
"Actually yes, you are. Get the hell out." He says with a fake grin plastered to his face.
Lana's smile gets even bigger. "Nah, I think Agnes and I are going to go have some girl time. See ya."
She takes hold of my wrist and pulls me out the door with her.
"Ooh, bye Killian!" I call over my shoulder.
He waved and smiled gently at me.
Lana pulls me out the door, down the stairs, through the bar, out the back door, and through the field behind the clubhouse. I now walk by her side. I know where we're going.
