"I'm gonna go run across to the store for a drink, anyone want anything?" I asked.
"Redbull," Jaxon shouted back.
"Coke," Beck replied.
"Is Pepsi okay?" I joked.
"Fuck off," He laughed as I headed out the door.
The store was just across the street, just a basic little convenience store. The air conditioning was up high, I felt goosebumps on my skin as I walked in, just wearing shorts and a t shirt since it was so hot outside.
My eyes scanned the refrigerator for the drinks I needed, it's bright white fluorescent light creating a high pitched humming noise.
"Excuse me ma'am," I heard a man's voice behind me as I reached for my strawberry milk.
I turned around and instantly recognised him. His name was Agustin Foy, and he was a well known actor, around about the age of the men we usually steal from. He was tall, towering over me, and had a fairly muscular build from all the action movies he had been in.
"I was going around the area to find some nice, hot young ladies such as yourself," He said, "I'm having a party on Friday night and we wanted to have as many people as possible, and considering this is quite a nice area, I thought it would be the perfect place to hand out some invitations."
He handed me a small white envelope.
"Thank you s- sir," I just managed to stammer out.
"No problem darlin, bring a couple friends if you like," He said with a wink, "And please, call me Agustin."
He left the store without buying anything, and leaving me totally confused, if not a little creeped out. I hurried to pay for the drinks and ran back across the street to the villa.
"You guys will never guess what just happened!" I yelled as soon as I walked back into the villa.
"What's up?" Beck asked, very intrigued.
"So I just met Agustin Foy in the convenience store and he was acting like a total creep," I explained, "But then he gave me this."
I threw the envelope at him.
"What the fuck," Beck mumbled as he opened it and read the invitation.
"He definitely had to have been on cocaine or something," Jaxon shook his head in disbelief.
"He might have been or he might not have been, either way we have ourselves an invitation into a very wealthy celebrity's house, and he doesn't know any of our names."
"You have an invitation, how are we meant to get in?"
"He said to bring a couple friends."
"I'm sure he meant hot chicks."
"He didn't specify."
There was a knock at the door. Jaxon walked past me to go answer it, and when he did, his mom jumped into his arms.
"Jaxon, my boy, I've missed you so much!"
"I've missed you too, mama."
"Hi, Elena!" Beck and I greeted her at the same time.
"Dani! Beck! God, it feels like forever since I have seen you all. How long has it been?"
"Well we moved out of the apartment... two years ago?" Beck thought out loud, "Then we saw you that Christmas, so like a year and a half maybe?"
"Far too long, then," She walked over to give me a hug then did the same to Beck, "How's life been?"
"Pretty great, judging from where we are," Jaxon replied, "We made around 16k the other night, that's how we managed to get here."
"How many clubs did you go to?" Elena asked, eyes wide.
"Two," Jaxon replied with a smirk, "A guy tried to drug Dani, so we made him drug himself and took his Rolex."
"That's my boy," She said with a smile.
"Will you be free for dinner tonight, mama? We can go somewhere really nice, anywhere you want to."
"I can, but I'll have to go to work straight after."
"We can give you the money to make up for it," Beck said, "We have plenty, honestly."
"No boys, dinner is almost too much," She stopped them, "But you're here for a few days, yes? That's plenty time."
"Well, I suppose we better get ready, then?" I said, smiling over at her as she smiled back.
Before the guys and I started living from hotels, we shared an apartment with Elena. I was doing a hair and beauty course, and she would always let me practice makeup looks on her, and I would always do her makeup if she was going out somewhere.
I set up a chair, got out my makeup, and got to work.
"Really, Elena, we will give you however much you need," I said, blending her eyeshadow, "You can even stay here with us while we can, it's no problem, especially after all you've done for us."
"I would, but at my age I need to keep my regulars happy," She tutted, "Otherwise they won't come back, move on to someone younger."
"I'm sure that's not true-"
"It's a cruel business, Dani," She said in a way that indicated that that conversation was over, "How's your uncle?"
"Doing well, he found someone through his work, Maaya, and they've settled down and had a kid together. He still sends me money, I've told him to stop but he says he still feels bad that he couldn't look after me when Grandma died," I sighed, "Wasn't his fault, poor guy, having to deal with losing his mom and his sister in such a short space of time."
"He was very strong," She nodded, "Glad he's found someone."
"Yeah," I smiled softly, finishing up her mascara, "That's your makeup finished!"
"Thank you, darling. So talented. If you ever get bored of this life, you have a fallback."
"I suppose, it would take a lot to get me to quit, though," I laughed, "After all the shit I've been through..."
"You and me both," She nodded, knowingly.
"Are you ladies ready?" Beck peaked his head through the door.
"Yep!"
Jaxon kept his word, and took us to a really nice restaurant. We had the best night in a long time, talking about all the old times when we lived together, Elena telling us all her wild stories from Russia, we'd heard them a thousand times but they never got any less entertaining. Our little makeshift family was back together, and despite it only being for a few days, I couldn't be happier.
Unfortunately, however, our meal came to an end. Elena insisted on going to work, so we dropped her off outside her apartment.
"I'm so glad I saw you again," I said as I hugged her goodbye.
"As am I," She smiled, before joking, "We'll see each other again tomorrow, which is a lot sooner than a year and a half."
We drove off, back to the villa, crashing on the couch, putting the TV on just for background noise. Jaxon's phone pinged.
"Hey, guys..." He stammered, "Mom just texted to say Agustin Foy picked her up."
We all shared a glance. Something wasn't right.
