CHAPTER 8

Kongpob stared at his reflection in the mirror.

The bruise under his eyes has started to fade. It was already 3 days since the incident at the mall. And today Kongpob decided to go to work. He could conceal his bruise with the foundation now.

Kongpob sighed. He took his makeup kit and started applying the honey-colored liquid on his face. The liquid blending around his face smoothly. He took his eyeliner and decorated his eyes with its black beauty.

Kongpob looked at himself at the mirror smiled bitterly when he took the long artificial hair and fixed it on his head. Kongpob combed his hair and perfected it by letting it fall his shoulders elegantly.

Kongpob looked at himself for the last time in the mirror before he walked out of the dressing room.

"Mommy! Mommy! Uncle is telling me to not come with you! I want to come with you, Mommy! Please! Please!"

Lia's whining voice greeted Kongpob as soon as he came out of his room all dressed up.

Kongpob looked at Aim who looked puzzled.

He took Lia in his hands and walked towards Aim.

"What is it, Aim? Just two days ago you were telling the right opposite. What happened to you? What will happen if Lia comes along with us?" Kongpob asked as he stroked his little angel's hair.

"Kong, you see? Things are not going well. If they interact more with Lia, especially Arthit, they will find out about us."

Kongpob looked at Aim as if he had told something impossible.

"Are you kidding me? We have been working with them for at least a month now and they haven't recognized me at all. Then from where did you get this sudden thought from?" Kongpob chuckled as he spoke to his friend.

Aim looked at Lia who had tears filled in her eyes.

"Lia, baby, why do you want to come with us? There is nothing special in Mommy's working place," Aim asked Lia who only shook her head at the question.

"I can see Mommy if I come there! I miss Mommy after she leaves me!"

Kongpob smiled at his daughter's answer but the next sentence that she told made him froze in his place.

"And I can see Uncle Arthit! He is a very nice Uncle! Like Uncle Aim! I love him very much!" Lia's voice was full of excitement when she talked about Arthit.

Kongpob looked at Aim, his eyes filled with tears.

"Mommy, please can I come with you! Please!" Lia started to beg her Mommy.

Kongpob tried to control his emotions. He made Lia stand on her feet and scooted down in front of her.

"Baby, listen to Mommy. Today you go to daycare and if you are a good girl then tomorrow I will take you with Mommy. Deal?"

Lia looked at the hand her mother put forward. She looked at Kongpob's face and then at his hand.

"Ok, if Mommy tells so," Lia replied weekly.

"Good girl!" Kongpob hugged Lia tightly and kissed her cheeks.

"Mommy will take me tomorrow, right? Pinky promise?" Lia put forward her little finger which Kongpob joined with his and nodded his head.

Kongpob stood up and asked Aim to go along with him.
