The night breeze flows through the open windows into the small room, or apartment, where you and your older brother Kaneki shared. It's around 3 AM and your brother is fast asleep next to you. You lay awake listening in on the wind passing out of your window while gazing up at the ceiling. You weren't entirely sure why you woke up, maybe it's because you couldn't get the bothersome feeling of Kaneki's date he's going to in the morning. You sigh out your nose and look out the window of the empty, dark streets of the neighborhood below. You just couldn't wrap your head around it; why are you so jealous of this date he's going on? I mean, he's went out with Hideyoshi many times and you were completely fine with it. You shake that thought away. No, that's different; Hideyoshi is a friend you've known since you were little, you're used to him but that date - something about it was off to you.

You huff and turn on your side, careful not to wake up your brother, he deserves his sleep after nearly staying up all night cooking dinner and finishing his studies. Oh, your brother. Ever since your mother's death, he's done everything to take care of you and made sure you lived a healthy life. Hell, he's willing to risk his own well - being in turn for you to live well. You clutch the sheets.

How you hate it.

It made you feel guilty and embarrassed almost. Whenever he frets over you, it made your heart sink and your stomach churn, and it didn't help that he would smile and tell you not to worry; the same way mother did.

Suddenly... something clicked in you.

Is that it? Is it because you were attached to Kaneki? Is it because you were so use to him being around you, you couldn't help but feel jealous that he'll look to someone else to be around? You softly chuckle to yourself - so it is jealousy.

You look at your brother's face. He looks so serene - eyes closed, snoring lightly with his mouth open - for once, he's at peace. You smile and snuggle deeper under the blanket. Moments like this are something you hope your brother has more of, something you need more of it. As much as you hate to admit it but, you're kinda getting sick of his babying. In fact, now that you think about it, maybe the date isn't bad after all? You wouldn't have to feel embarrassed around your friends whenever he would restlessly give you your forgotten lunch and you can leave the house without your brother having to make sure you had almost every single item on you.

Oh, how wrong you would be.
