I came too and looked at my surroundings. I was still in the casket and Michael and the Arch Angels were standing there looking at me through the glass window. "Can I get out now?" Michael reaches for the casket and opens it. "How do you feel?" Honestly I felt the same, like nothing really happened. "I saw Jesus. I saw him. It was the most amazing thing I have ever felt." The arch angels looked at one another and smiled. "Yes, he is a wonderful site isn't he." Gabriel said with a smile. I got up out of the casket and tried to catch my bearings. "You okay?" I looked at Haniel to see her standing next to me. "Uh, yeah. I think so. To be honest I was expecting to look a bit different." I noticed that I was still the same, and didn't feel any changes. "It may take time for the changes to show. To be honest this is a first for us." "What was suppose to happen?" "Honestly we thought you would look like one of us." Just then something was happening. I started to shake uncontrollably and fell to my knees. The pain I was feeling was unbearable and miserable. "Mark are you okay?" Haniel said with concern in her voice. "I don't know what's going on?" I felt as if my insides were on fire. Just then I felt the pain go away. I composed myself and stood up. All of a sudden I felt this feeling of enlightens and power overcome me. I felt this strange feeling coming from my back. Just then wings shot up out of my shoulder blades. "Oh, my word." Michael said with amazement. "Uh, is this normal?" I said with worry in my voice. "Mark it worked! You're an Angel." Haniel said with excitement in her voice. I felt the wings move and it was a little strange at first. "It's time you give them a test. Haniel can you take him on his test flight. Gabriel and I have to speak with Jesus. He is waiting for us." "Sure thing I can take care of that. Come on Mark." She reached for my hand and guided me to this arena. It felt as if I stepped back in time to Rome. It was amazing, there were seats in the auditorium and in the center was a fighting arena. It was magnificent and marvelous in all its wonder. "What is this place?" I looked at Haniel as she turned around to face me. "This is where we do our practice fights and other things. You ready to learn how to fly?" Just then Haniel's wings came out from her shoulder blades. "She was majestic and beautiful in all her heavenly splendor. "Sure, let's get this going." I said with such confidence and power. I didn't have any fear in my body, it felt as if I could conquer the world. "Okay just feel your wings as if they were your arm. They are a part of you and they respond to your actions." I took my right arm and raised it up, then my right wing started to follow. I could feel the wings attached to my shoulder blades. I rolled my shoulder a bit to get the motion of my wings. "Good, that's great. A lot faster then Michael when he was learning to fly." "Really? It's hard to believe that Michael had to learn to fly. He seems he was a born leader." "Oh, Michael was a young angel in training and boy he had it tough. Gabriel was always beating him." "It's hard to believe, but I can imagine. So what next?" Haniel walked behind me and gracefully touched my wings to see if they were strong enough. I could feel her hands gently touch my wings and it felt as if she was touching my back or arms. They felt just as much a part of me. She was making her way around me and I glanced over to see her wonderful beauty. "Well your wings seem like their ready. So let's give this a try, take your wings and move them up and down." I focused on the wings and could start to feel movement in them. "That's great, keep it up." I could start to feel wind from the wings movement. "Okay let's get this started. Life your wings as high as you can and give a hard thrust in the downward motion, like this." Just then Haniel pushed herself off the ground. "Once you're in the air you want to continue with that hard swift motion." I lifted my wings up high and I could see the tips above my head. They seemed, so beautiful and majestic. I was so overwhelmed with the feeling of pride and gratefulness. I looked over to see Haniel as she marveled at there sight. "I have to admit they are the largest Angel wings I've ever seen. They are truly beautiful." "Thank you, here I go." With a hard flap to both wings I pushed myself off the ground. I could see the ground get further away from my feet. Then I looked over and I was flying next to Haniel. "I did it! Wow this feeling is amazing. I feel weightless in the air." She smiled at me and then motioned for me to follow her. "Let's see how those wings fair in a obstacle ring." Just then these large rings appeared all over the arena. "You follow me." I saw as Haniel went through the first ring and then spiral down to the second. I race towards the first ring and at first I started to move a little slow, but then as my wings started to flap it became second nature to me and I was able to flap faster. I made it through the first ring then I closed my wings inward and spiraled downward to the second ring. I opened them up at the right time to catch the wind and help guide me through the second ring. I continued this motion through the hole course. I was having so much fun, I never noticed I was gaining on Haniel. "Wow, you seem to be getting the hang of it." "I guess I am." I flew past her and went through the rest of the course with such ease. We then landed back to the arena floor. "That was awesome! I can't believe we just did that." "I have to say this is amazing you're a natural. I've never seen anyone get there wings and on the first day do what you did. It's truly remarkable and majestic. Okay so you ready to learn how to pull them back in." "Sure, how do I do that?" Haniel walked towards me. She turned around and told me to place my hands on her wings. "Okay so do you feel where the wings are attached to the shoulder blade?" I placed my hands on her wings and they felt so soft and velvety. She turned her head as I was placing my hand on her wings. She had this look about her that was very nurturing and beautiful. "Yes, I do." "Okay watch as I retract them." Just then I saw her wings start to pull into her back. It looked so painful and yet so interesting to see. Just then her wings were completely gone and all you could see is her shoulder blades through the holes in her garment. She turned to face me. "Okay now it's your turn. Just relax and in your mind picture your wings retracting into your shoulder blades. I concentrated on my wings and tried to picture them retracting inside of me. Just then I felt this pop, almost like when you crack your fingers. Just then I could feel this feeling from my shoulder blades. It felt like when your foot falls asleep, that numbness. Just like that. Just then I opened my eyes and Haniel was standing there watching me. "You did it. Great job." "Thank you." "Okay so you want to try and give your sword a try?" "Sure where is it?" She reached over her shoulders and pulled the sword from her sheath. It was so cool to witness, I mean just a few seconds before she did that there was no sword on her back. "How did you do that?" She let a slight chuckle and smiled. "Our swords are hidden until the time we need them. It makes for safe keeping so that they don't fall into the wrong hands." "That's awesome." I reached with my left hand over my right shoulder and immediately I felt the sword and sheath materialize on my back. I pulled the sword out from the sheath and it made a marvelous sound. "Why does it make that sound?" "Well long ago before Lucifer tried to dethrone God he was the leader of the orchestra. He would write some wonderful songs and the choir of angels would sing to God. Well when he was kicked to earth and became Satan. He was given the title as the Prince of Air. When Jesus died on the cross and got the keys he gave the humans the ability to destroy the very air that he controlled." "How do they do that?" "Just by shouting Hallelujah they can break through Satan and his control of the air. It's a truly marvelous thing to see, but not many humans do that anymore. They've all given in to hatred, bitterness and anger. They have almost forgotten how to worship God or who God even is." "Thats awful. I never knew that humans were getting that bad." "It's been a long dueling battle one I've been a part of for thousands of years. I know the time is getting closer to the end. We all look forward to the day when Satan will be destroyed and we can truly rest again." I pondered on the thought of all the humans down there in the city who were being tormented by the demons and Satan. "Okay so enough talking let's see how you fair with your sword." "Okay, let's do this." She stood there in a combat position and she made it look so natural. I tried to mimic her stance, but not doing it as well as she did. "Okay don't hold back on me. I want to see what you've got." "You realize I've only been an Angel for like 30 Minutes now." She smiled and then ran towards me like a flash. My eyes were able to follow her movement. She then lunged towards the air and was coming down with her sword towards me. I lifted my sword up to counter her attack. The swords clashed with each other. "Good, you've got a solid defense position. Okay here we go. Be ready." Just then she pulled her sword back and came to my side. I anticipated and blocked the attack. The bout went on like this with the sword clashing back and forth. It was a very exhilarating experience and I was amazed at how well I was keeping up. Just then I saw an opening came available. She left her right side completely unblocked. I pushed the sword back causing her to lose her footing for just a moment. I pulled the sword to the right side and stop right before hitting her skin. She stopped in her tracks and then looked at me with amazement. She looked at me through her white eyes. She then pressed herself closer to me. For a moment I wasn't sure what to expect, then in that moment she leaned in and kissed me. I didn't know what to do, but stand there. She pulled away from my lips and put her sword back into her sheath. Which appeared out of nowhere again. "Uh...is that normal?" I then witnessed something I didn't think could happen. Her white aura around her turned a blushing red. "I can't explain it, but there is something about your eyes that remind me of someone. Someone I haven't seen in a long time." "Who?" "My husband." Just then I felt as if I was given a mind blowing news. "Wait, angels can get married?" "Yes, why not. We have feelings and emotions just like you. Only thing different is we have to serve God. You're given a choice. Listen I apologize about the kiss. It was too premature and uncalled for. Please forgive me." I watched as the red aura around her turned a slight blue. I could tell she was embarrassed about it and felt uncomfortable. "Listen, it's okay. I didn't mind the kiss. I was just caught off guard a little bit is all. So what happen to your husband if you don't mind me asking." "It was a long time ago at the Battle of Eden. He and I were fighting side by side. Like a team we clashed between fallen angels and we were good together. Well before God put the curse on the fallen angels one of the Angels got lucky and caught me off guard. I was totally blindsided and they managed to get the upper hand on us. They took their sword and stab him in the side. I watched as he took his sword and slashed there head off, but it was too late. He took a fatal injury. I watched as he fell to the earth motionless. I tried to catch him, but another fallen angel had got in between us and I had to defend myself. Just then I saw this wave of light come flashing form the ground and all of the fallen angels lost there majestic powers and became demons. Plummeting towards the huge hole in he ground and God closed them up." She had her head lowered and I could tell she was sad. "I'm sorry to hear that. Can I ask another question." She composed herself and her aura turned back into the bright white it was before the kiss. "Does all of the angels auras change color like yours?" "No, they don't. Each angel has a special gift that God has bestowed on us. One of my side effects of the gift is my aura changes colors based on my emotion. It's quite embarrassing." "I find it fascinating." She lifted her head up and looked at me in the eyes. "Well I think that's enough training for the day." "So will my eyes glow the bright white like yours?" "Not sure, it seems your powers are still developing so there may be changes, but considering Jesus gave you the powers of an angel I feel you may get them, but it would make for a very interesting conversation with your friends." "I hadn't thought of that." We were heading back to the sanctuary. I noticed that Michael and Gabriel were coming back as well. "It seems that their meeting with Jesus is through." Haniel looked at me with that same look again, only this time I knew what she was seeing. "Haniel, Mark glad to see you two. How did the training fair?" "Quite well. He has mastered the art of flying and sword combat." "Really, well I can see why Jesus chose you. There will be more I'll teach you as the days progress." "I appreciate that Michael thank you. How did your meeting with Jesus go?" I looked at Gabriel and he didn't look too happy. "Well it went okay considering the events that transpired." "What did he say about Johnson? Any idea how he was able to gain control of his body?" "No we still don't know. Jesus thinks that it could be the seal might have a flaw in it. Speaking of seals how is yours doing?" I was caught off guard a little by his question. "What seal?" Michael walked over to me and he lifted my right sleeve up and there was a mark. It was a little circle with some ancient text inside it. "Wow, I didn't even know it was there. What does it say?" "Mal'Akh." Haniel said out loud. "What does it mean?" Michael lowered my sleeve and stood in front of me. "It means Angel. We all have them it is what binds us together with Jesus and heaven." "That is cool. So as long as this seal stays on me I'm an Angel" "Well you're not a 100% Angel, but you have powers of an Angel, but yes if that seal comes off then you will lose your powers and be human again." "Okay so what's next?" "You recruit." I looked at Michael with a very puzzled look. "Wait, what do you mean recruit?" "Well you see Gabriel here has been put on a no fly zone outside the spirit realm without a host. We are running low on hosts and need a few to get Gabriel and a few other angels back in the field." "Okay, I think I can manage that. I just had one question." Michael looked at me with anticipation. "How do I know if a human is not demon possessed. It could go badly if I ask them if they want to be a host and they possessed." The Arch Angels chuckled out loud at the question. As if I asked a pretty obvious question. "Well that's simple you will see there eyes." "Wait, what?" Haniel came towards me. "You see before when you were just a human you saw the eyes of the demon because they showed them to you, but now that you're an Angel you will see there color in there eyes all the time." "Well that will be easy. So wait, if I see a demon should I try and free the human?" The Arch Angels were not laughing when I asked that question. I seem to have hit a nerve. "Well that is according to the situation. You see we currently have a peaceful status with the demons unless we're provoked. Then you have the right to defend yourself." Michael looked at the others after he answered my question. "Okay so no releasing humans unless I'm provoked. What about the seal you recovered from Johnathan?" Michael looked back towards me and didn't have a good look on his face." "It would seem the seal hasn't given us much information. It is a very dark kind of magic and something we can't seem to figure out, but Jesus is still looking into it." "Okay, well don't forget about my parents. I'm going to free them like I said." Haniel placed her hand on my shoulder. "Mark I don't think it's wise right now." I looked at her with a shock on my face. Of all the Angels I thought she would understand and agree with me. "Why?" "Until we get a better understanding of what we're dealing with on these seals I suggest that we only dispel a demon if they provoke us." I looked at Michael and he didn't seem that he was going to budge on that order. "You wouldn't want to run the risk of the same thing that happen to Johnson happen to your mom and dad do you?" I looked at Haniel and realized she was only looking out for me. "No, I don't. I understand." Well I guess I will be off then. Oh, I have one more question. Am I able to come back here if I need too?" "Yes, you've been given access to the spirit realm. Do with it as you please and if you ever get outnumbered or in a situation you need help. Just say Mal'Akh and we'll have support there. Also if you ever need a safe haven, know you've got this place you can fall back on." I nodded my head in acknowledgement to Michael. "Okay, so I'll see you soon Michael?" "Well Jesus wants me to look into some things over the next few days. So I've appointed Haniel to be you're instructor for the time." I looked at her and she smiled. I could tell she was happy with the decision. I didn't mind the choice at all. We've someone how bonded over the last few minutes and I feel she would be a great trainer. "Okay that is cool with me. If you're cool with it?" "Yes, I'm okay with it. Thank you Michael for the chance to be his trainer. I won't let you down." "Great, so Haniel will be stationed with you until I get done." "Okay, wait. When you say Stationed what does that mean?" "You're getting a new roommate." I looked at Haniel and she was smiling from ear to ear. "Uh, the thing is I don't exactly have another room for her to sleep in." "No need, we don't sleep. So she won't need a bed." "Okay. That is fine, but what do I say to my friends about her being with me. I'm sure her white eyes will give her away." "Just tell them she's your cousin visiting and has sensitive eyes to the light." "You make that sound so easy." "It will be fine Mark, if I need to I can just go to the roof and stay there until the coast is clear." "Okay, let's go." Haniel and I headed towards the temples doors. "So how do I know who too recruit? I mean how do I know they are the perfect host for you all." "You'll know Jesus gave you the ability to discern and you'll know when the right time is for you to recruit." I looked at Haniel as her wings sprouted out of her shoulder blades. "That never gets old." She looked at me and chuckled. I motioned my shoulder blades and my wings sprouted out as well. I looked up at them and they were standing tall. "I know I said this already, but your wings are truly majestic and I have never seen them so big. It's truly a sight to see. Okay let's put those flying lessons to the test." I watched as Haniel headed for her human host. I watched as she soared through the air with such grace and control. She landed next to her human host and what I witnessed them was truly remarkable. Her host closed there eyes and she turned into this ball of light and someone the human host absorbed her. I took one flap of my wings and I was off towards Haniel. Her host had lost control and Haniel was now in control. The wings came out of her host and she was off the ground and flying next to me. "So what do you think of her?" I looked over and noticed something familiar with her host. Then it hit me. "KIM! Your host is Kimberly!" "You know her?" "Uh, yes. She stays in my apartment." "Well how about that, it seems that I will be close to you after all." I was so blown away that Kim was her host. "How....when...I'm so confused." "It was the yesterday when she was dressed all fancy. She was going to do an interview with a Pastor about some fundraiser they were doing. Then before you know it she is saved. She gave up her life to help God for his cause." "This is heavy. Wow. Okay, it is going to take me some time to get use to this." "Did you have a thing for her?" I didn't know what to say. "Uh, no. Why do you say that?" "Well her thoughts are telling me that you had a thing for her. She noticed you always looking at her." "Oh, uh. No I don't have a thing for her." Oh, this is getting so awkward. "Wait, isn't it an invasion of her privacy to be reading her thoughts?" "No, she is telling me these things." "Wait, you mean she can communicate as a host." "Yes, we don't enslave them. We give them full opportunities to do what they like unless we're in battle. Then we shut it off so they don't have to endure the feelings and emotions." "Wow. Okay. So does her thoughts say she liked me?" Haniel started to chuckle. "Okay, never mind. I don't want to know the answer." "Mark, it wasn't like that. She was telling me a story about you dropping your gear when she had walked out of the elevator. She says she knew she caught you off guard. She says you are very sweet and the old her would have not given you the time of day." "Okay. I understand." "However she is saying that the new her says that she would give you a chance." What! Did she just say that I have a chance. Yeah. "Someone's happy." "Wait, is my aura changing colors." "No dear, I didn't need to see the color of your aura to know you were happy. I could tell it by the look on your face" Wow. Wait to look silly. Got to keep it cool. "Okay well we're almost at the barrier." I look at Haniel and Kim's face started to look serious. I wasn't quite sure why she was so serious all of a sudden. We pass through the barrier and it is night time. "How long was I gone?" "Not long, about 4 hours." "Wait I was in the spirit realm a lot longer then 4 hours." "Time isn't the same in the spirit realm. It goes a lot slower in the spirit realm then on earth." "So an hour is like what?" "We've never actually calculated the exact time, but I would say one spirit realm day is like 1 hour of earth time." "Wow, okay. I'll have to remember that." I looked off towards the distance to see if those demons were still trying to break through the barrier. "We need to get to cover as quickly as possible." "Why?" "Remember the Demons are allowed to be out at night in full force and we don't have the man power to take on that large of a group." "Don't you mean angel power." "Oh, brother. Was that a joke?" "What don't you all have a sense of humor?" "Yes, but that was just a bad joke. Okay there is you're apartment. It's time we freeze time so that nobody can see us." "Cool how do we do that?" "I'll do it this time so that we won't have you mess it up the first time. It's a bit trickier." I wasn't sure if I should take offense to that or just be cool. I watched as she closed her eyes and then this beam of light came flowing out of her and it went all over the place. I could see cars stopped in there tracks and people frozen in place. "We need to hurry because when we use this it also lets the demons know where here. It is a great thing to have, but you want to be careful you don't draw attention to yourself." "Makes sense. There is my window." She took her hand and motioned for the window to open up. Just then she closed her wings inward and spiraled through the opening in the window. I followed shortly after her. Just then I landed on my floor and the window behind me was shut. "Okay let's put time back in place." She waved her hand again and this wind like light came flowing out of her and time started to move again. "Okay so we have about 4 hours before it is daytime. So I'm going to head to bed. You going to your apartment?" "Yes, I think I'm going to go and change out of these clothes. I'm sure people would be curious to know why I'm wearing tactical gear." "Really, I thought it came with the powers." I said with a chuckle. She actually laughed that time. "Well I'm glad my sense of humor is wearing off on you." She looked at me and then headed for my door. "Don't forget to lock up before you go to bed." I walked her to the door and as we both opened the door. Steph was standing at her door. It looked as if she was just getting in from work. She works the night shift at the local gas station around the corner. "Kim! Mark?! Uh, so what are you two up too?" I could tell her was shocked to see Kim come out of my apartment. "Uh, she is just heading back to her apartment. We uh....we...." "We were finishing up on our bible study. Mark has been teaching me about the Bible and God's plan of salvation." "Oh, really? Mark I didn't know you were doing that." "Uh, yeah. I'm starting to get involved with my church and all. You should come over sometime, we have a great time." I said with a squeakiness to my voice. I don't think the lie is working. I feel Steph knows it too. "Well I've got to get to bed. Late night." Steph opened the door and closed it behind her. "She likes you." "What?! No, not Steph. She is just a really good friend." "Mark, one of my powers or gifts is to read people and their feelings. Believe me she likes you." "Really? Interesting. Also you lied? I didn't think Angels could lie?" "Mark, we also have a mission to protect the humans. You can't tell nobody about your power or what you are. Trust me it doesn't go well. They can't handle it and it would cause mass chaos." "Lot of rules to learn." "You'll get the hang of it in time." She reached over and kissed me on the cheek and headed towards her room. I closed the door behind me and locked her up. I looked at my darkened apartment and realized I was not afraid anymore. I didn't have that fear I had the last couple of days. It felt as if I was being watched over or guarded. Maybe it was because I had the powers or the interaction with Jesus. I was not sure, but I knew at that moment that my life was never going to be the same and that the battles ahead of me would be no easy task and I would have to rely heavily on my wits and the training from the arch angels. I headed towards my room and got ready for bed.
