I couldn't believe my eyes. When Haniel told me we had gotten word from our information Father Baker that someone wanted to use there body as a Host I was so shocked. I blinked a few times to see if I was maybe dreaming, but I wasn't. Haniel looked back at me with the same shocking look in her face. "Haniel surely this can't be the one." "It most certainly is. I spoke with her this morning and she was very sincere." "Mark if she wants to do this then we have no choice but to follow her wishes." "Why don't you want me to be a recruit Mark?" I didn't know what to say. "Steph it's very dangerous and I don't want to see you get hurt." "I know the risks. Father Baker told me and I want to help. So you're an angel Kim?" Haniel glanced at me over her shoulder. "Well she is the host, much like you are going to be if you choose this path." "Steph listen, you don't know what this life comes with." "So are you an angel Mark?" Steph looked at me and then Haniel. Father Baker approached Steph and started to explain. "Mark is the chosen leader to lead Jesus' army against Satan. He was selected a long time ago by Jesus to be given special powers. He has been granted powers like an angel, but he is not a host. It allows for him to do a lot more then an angel can." "So how do you become like that?" "It was a one time thing and it can't be repeated." Haniel said with authority in her voice. "I see. Well Mark you can't change my mind. You inspired me to look into this further." "How did I do that?" "When you told me you and Kim were doing bible study. I realized I could get my life in check and do some good for God. So I came to the father this morning and spoke to him and he helped me get saved." I looked at Steph and could see it in her eyes. She had the look of determination and perseverance. She wanted to proceed with this and I couldn't change her mind. "Fine, but I'm going to be watching out for her when she is on missions." Haniel looked over at me and shocked at my authoritative nature. "Well look who is giving orders." Haniel said in a sarcastic way. "Okay, so are we doing this or not?" Haniel approached her and held out her hand. "Mark you got your bible?" "Yes, in my bag." I reached in my bag and noticed there was a huge hole in the bottom of the bag. "Uh, so about the Bible." Haniel jolted herself around and looked me square in the eyes. "What about the Bible?" "Uh, well it would seem during the attack back at the station one of the demons ripped a hole in my bag and it fell out. I didn't know until now, I promise." Haniel had a look of disbelief in her eyes, but she wasn't going to let my mistake hurt me. "Father Baker do you have a spare bible we can have?" "Why yes I do, I just got a shipment in yesterday." Father Baker went behind the pulpit. There was a closet hidden from sight. He opened it up and inside was thousands of bibles on the shelves. He grabbed the Bible and closed the door. He made his way back to where we were. He handed the Bible to Haniel. "Thank you Father. Okay Steph. Place your right hand on the Bible." "Okay." Steph placed her hand on the Bible. Then Haniel started to speak in an unknown tongue. I had never heard it before, the next thing I see is this bright light coming from the Bible. It consumes Steph's whole body and soon you couldn't see her no more. Then about 3 minutes later the light fades inside her. "Is it done?" I asked with anticipation in my voice. "Yes, it is done. She has been absorbed by an Angel." Haniel looked back at me and gave a smile. "So who is it? Gabriel?" I asked with a sarcastic tone in my voice. "No, I'm not Gabriel. You can call me Ariel." I was puzzled by the name. I was not familiar with it." Who is Ariel?" I asked with curiosity in my voice. "My son Ariel is the Lion of God the Angel of Protection. She helps protect people when they need it." Father Baker mentioned. I looked at Steph and she had the same blank stare as Haniel does in Kim's body, only she's missing her sunglasses. Her eyes are bright white. "This is a beautiful church Father Baker." He nodded his head with appreciation. "Here you'll be needing these." Haniel handed her a pair of sunglasses. "Okay I need to be on my way. Michael will be back in a few days and we need to get ready for the mission." Stephanie said, or I should said Ariel in Steph's body. "I guess I have truly lost my friend." I lowered my head with disappointment. Steph was the last part of my normal life I had before all this started. "No, she is still your friend and she truly cares about you." "Ariel I am not sure Mark wants to hear her thoughts. He didn't care for me to do that with Kim" "Oh, well then I'm sorry. Still getting use to being in a human host." "Wait, this is your first time?" I had hoped the answer was no. "Yes." "Great, so the first host she gets and it had to be Steph." "Mark I don't see why you're getting upset. You didn't get this upset when i showed you Kim." I couldn't handle it anymore. I turned around and headed out of the church. "What's his problem?" "I don't know, but you stay here while Father Baker brings you up to speed on human manners and ways. I'll be right back." I opened the church door and stood outside just trying to wrap my head around all this. Now my only friend who wasn't effected by all this craziness is a host. "You okay?" "Yeah. I'm fine." "Really because it looked like a breakdown to me." "Haniel, what do you expect from me. The girl of my dreams is a host to an Angel now training me to be an Angel. My only friend who I could talk to about anything other then this is now an Angel. I can't talk to my parents because they are both demon possessed. How could I not have a breakdown?" Haniel looked at me with sadness, but it was through Kim's face. She placed her arm on my shoulder. "Mark I understand how it feels to lose the one you love. That's how I felt when I lost my husband and I've been thinking about him everyday. I too feel lost. I promise you once we get more human host Ariel and I will use them for missions to give Steph and Kim a break" I took a deep breath and let it out. "No, don't do that. They wanted this and I wouldn't be a good friend to them if I stood in the way. Well to Steph, Kim never really was my friend. Just a passerby." She chuckled. "Kim thought that was funny and said she was a fool for not giving you a chance." My heart skipped a beat when she said that. "Really did she say that?" "Yes, she did. She also wanted me to give you this." Haniel leaned in towards me and pressed her tender lips to mine. At first I didn't feel anything then, I could tell that Haniel wasn't there anymore. I was feeling Kim's lips on mine. I put my arms around her and finished with a tender hug. "Mark, I'm sorry I didn't give you the time of day, but I see now that you have a good heart and I didn't see that. Please forgive me." "Kim? Is that you?" "Yes, Haniel thought it best if she let me do the talking. I'm sorry that you feel you lost your friends, but we are still here." I don't know what it was, if it was Kim's kind words or the fact we were embracing in a hug. I felt all my problems melt away. "Are we done here?" I turn quickly to see Ariel, I mean Steph standing at the foot of the steps. We quickly broke the hug and composed ourselves. "Yes, we are done. Mark I'm going to escort Ariel to the Spirit Realm and I'll be back. Why don't you just get a feel around town for things and see if you can do some good." "Sure, you be careful with her Haniel. Please make sure she gets looked out for." Haniel turned to me and with her authoritative look she gave a nod. I watched as the both of them got lost in the crowd. "You must trust in God he always has the answer." I turned back to see Father Baker standing there. "Yeah, I know that. It's just not easy thought, but it is something we need to work on everyday." "Young Man if I may say something. In all my years I have never heard of anything remotely close to what you have been given. It is truly a great power to have and it is something I would cherish and revere at the same time. Think of it this way. Jesus trusts in you to carry out his task and he knows that you have the ability to truly put a hurt to Satan's army and you are going to do great things. I can see it." I looked back up at Father Baker with a feeling of pride and emotion. "Thank you Father. I needed to hear that. I must be on my way. I've got humans to save." He smiled at me and I turned around and headed for the spirit realm. I tucked down a dark alley and then I focused on time standing still. I felt this wind come from my body and I looked to the side of the alley and the people were frozen. I motioned for my wings to come from my body. The sound of skin and bones breaking to form my wings. I stretched them out from tip to tip and with one great flap I bolted from the ground. I knew that if I was going to save my parents and the people of this city. I needed to get a better look at the samples I took. I was flying so fast that I hadn't even noticed I was in the clouds. I saw Haniel and Ariel flying up ahead. "Good Morning!" I looked at them with shock and awe. "What are you doing here?" Haniel asked with surprise. "I'm going to take another look at that seal. If I'm going to be a hero I need to be able to free those humans down there. We need to know why the seal defected." "We told you Jesus is looking into it." Haniel said with an authoritative voice. "Yeah, but he has me now. There is a reason he got a CSI Agent. He needs someone with a science knowledge because this seal wasn't made in heaven, but on earth." Both Haniel and Ariel looked at me like I had lost my mind about what I said. I don't mean no disrespect towards Jesus, but he created the humans to be smart and intelligent and he uses our abilities every day to speak goodness throughout the world. So why wouldn't he do the same with this situation. Well all three reached the spirit realm barrier and I looked back to the planet quickly and released the time wave. "You froze time?" Haniel asked. "Yes, I did." "I'm impressed, but more that you were able to release the time freeze from such a long distance. You are truly mastering you'r powers." Haniel said with a smile. We passed through the barrier and came up through the clouds. The temple was off in the distance. It was still a sight to see, I don't think I will ever tire of seeing it. Haniel and Ariel went to drop Kim and Steph off at the human drop off point. "I'll catch up with you two later." I was speaking to Steph and Kim's mind, not the Angels. I flew on to the temple to get that seal. I approached the stairway and noticed the ArchAngels were there. It was if they were expecting me. I landed and noticed they were all staring at me. I looked down and realized I was still in my civilian clothes. I closed my eyes and focused on the normal angel attire and the next thing I know I look down and my clothes were changed. "Wow, you sure have gotten use to your powers pretty quickly." "Well Gab what can I say, I'm a quick learner." I heard the other angels mutter to each other. "It's Gabriel, not Gab." "Oh, sorry. Where is Michael? I must speak with him." "He is in the sanctuary, but what do you need to speak with him about?" "I'm sorry Gab, but it's important I talk with him." I walked around Gabriel and headed toward the sanctuary. "Just because you have the powers of an Angel doesn't mean you get to boss me around. Remember I'm second in command." I kept on walking and ignored everything that Gabriel said. I pushed through the big doors and there was Michael. He was talking with Jesus. I approached them both. Jesus turned his head to look at me and I bowed in my very spot. "My Lord, I've come to ask if I may examine the seal?" I lifted my head slight to see what his reaction is. "You think you can come in here and talk to Jesus that way? Your Lord and Savior?" Michael said with urgency. "Forgive me for my actions Jesus, but you selected me out of all the humans to be the leader of your army and I feel my experience in the criminal investigation will be of great use to you." I looked up to see Michael look angry at me and then I looked at Jesus and he had this peace about him. "Stand my child." Jesus said with a peaceful and loving tone. I stood up and composed myself. He looked me up and down. "From the looks of it, you've seem to have mastered the Angels abilities. I must say I'm not surprised, but glad you did. Yes you can examine the seal. I only had it for safe keeping because I didn't want the demons to get there hands on it." "I understand sir, and I won't let that happen. I feel there is something more to this seal. Then again it may have been a defected one." Jesus turned around to look at a picture of Satan on the wall. His photo like all the other Angels were hung up. Only Satan and the fallen Angels were put on the opposite side as the Angels that remained loyal to Jesus. "When Satan designed the seal he used all his cunning and abilities to forge it on earth in the early days. I feel that the seal we've managed to get is the first seal." I was blown away by what Jesus just said. "Wait, you mean the first seal that Satan used to poison the humans and corrupt them at the beginning?" "Yes, the very seal that caused Cain to kill Able." I was focusing my thoughts on the idea of this seal being the original. If that is the case it could explain a lot for us. "If that is true sir, then that means we could...." "Unlock the ways the seals work and destroy him from possessing the humans once and for all." Michael and I looked at each other and realized the seriousness of this seal. Even then at that moment I feel Michael started to see the real me for what I am. He had doubts about me being the one who would lead God's Army, but after that moment he lost doubts and believed in me. "Jesus let me escort Mark with the seal to his lab and get this examined as quickly as possible. If there is any a slight chance that we can destroy the seals we must take it." I looked over at Michael and he was using his authority to present Jesus with a plan of action. Jesus turned at both of us and he held out his hand. Just then the seal was in his hand. It was put in a clear case. A four inch square box. "We will guard it with our life, sir." I said with confidence in my voice. "I know you will and Mark be safe and I'll always be with you." "Yes, sir. Thank you." I turned around and headed out of the temple. Michael said he would catch up with me at the human post. I flew up in the air and down toward the human post. I noticed that Kim and Steph were talking amongst each other. I caught Kim's attention and she came running to meet me. As she approached me I could see overwhelming gladness in her eyes. "Mark! Isn't this awesome!" "Yes, it is." "Look at you! You look like an Angel!" I looked down to see myself in a very majestic glory. "Yeah, I figured I best look the part. I noticed Steph walking towards us. "You mad at me?" Steph asked with her head lowered. "No, I'm not mad. I'm sorry for my attitude earlier. I was just being selfish, I didn't want to lose my number one friend." She looked up at me with a smile. "You will never lose me as your friend. Just because I'm a host doesn't mean we still can't hang out. At least now you can talk to us about this." "You know I never thought of it that way before." "That's why you got me. I'm there to remind you about these things." Kim and Steph were smiling ear to ear with excitement. Just then Michael landed behind me. Kim and Steph lowered there smiles. They knew if Michael was here that it was important. "What's going on?" Kim asked with concern. "I'm going to take the seal back to earth and see if I can examine it further and get a better understanding of it. Jesus thinks it may be the very first seal that Satan used to possess Cain." "You mean, that Cain killed Able under the influence of Satan?" Kim asked with curiosity in her voice. That journalist inside her never went away. "Yes, that is what Jesus thinks. So it's my job to figure out what makes this work and if I can destroy the other seals." "Mark do you think you can?" Steph asked with anticipation in her voice. "Yes, I do. If this works then this means that no more possession of humans who don't want to be possessed. Only those who are serving Satan can be possessed." "That would greatly hurt there numbers." Kim replied. "Yes, it will." Just then I felt a hand touch my right wing. I turned and Michael had already gotten into his host. "You ready?" Michael asked with anticipation. "Yes, let me just change back to normal." I closed my eyes and focused on a nice pair of clothes. Just then I opened my eyes. "Black suite and tie?" Michael asked with a look of shock in his eyes. "Mark you look handsome." Kim said. I smiled back at her and then looked at Michael. "You watch too many movies." Michael said with disgust in his voice and he took off towards the air. "Mark, wait before you go." Kim leaned in and gave me a kiss on the lips. It was a tender kiss that told me to be careful and to watch my back. I pulled away from her lips and looked into her eyes. She had those same beautiful blue eyes. They almost sparkled off the sun. "Be careful Mark." I looked back at Steph and she smiled at me. I nodded back to her in acknowledgment. I took my wings and flapped as hard as I could and took off towards Michael. "You know you had better be careful with relationships Mark." I looked at Michael with confusion. "Why?" "Because they never end good during war. I'm sure Haniel told you about her husband." "Yes, she did. I didn't get the idea that she wouldn't have married him if she had known about the battle. I mean you can't control love." Michael shook his head back and forth. Well let's just try and focus on the mission okay." "Okay, so how did your side mission go." "It went well. I got word that Gabriels sword was recovered by a witness and I needed to retrieve it." "His sword?" "Yes, the night that Johnsons demon used it on his human Gabriel ascended into the spirit realm. His sword was not with him. I think the demon had it, but once he was out of his human host he couldn't touch it." "I didn't know that. Glad you got it back. That would have been bad." "Yeah, a Angel sword in the hands of the enemy isn't good. Just remember what I said about relationships can cloud your judgement during war and you'll be okay." I looked at him with seriousness in my eyes and nodded. We approached the barrier of the spiritual realm. We passed through and were heading down to earth. It was still daylight out. The time is different in spiritual realm then earth. That keeps messing with my mind. I took my hand and waved it towards the planet and I could see this beam of light come out from it. "I see you mastered the time. Good work." I looked at Michael and smiled. We headed towards my old lab at the police station. "We need to hurry so we don't draw attention to us." Michael said with concern. We both flapped even hard and went soaring through the buildings. In and around the corners and alleyways. If we weren't racing against time to not draw attention to us. I would say this was almost fun. However the longer we keep time frozen the more the Demons will know we are up to something and send there human hosts to examine. "I wish there was a way we could freeze time and not alert the demons we are up to something." "Good luck with that. Jesus is the only one who can do that." "Makes senses he is after all a powerful God." We arrived at the roof of the police station. "Okay where is your office?" "It's about 3 floors down. We should go through the window. I don't know if they'll let me be in there anymore." Michael nodded in agreement. Then we both flapped our wings and went down to the window. I realized the windows on this building don't open. "Michael these windows don't open what are we going to do?" We were only seconds from hitting my office window. Michael took his hand and waved it towards the window and it opened up. We both flew through it and landed in my office. I looked back to see Michael close the window. "How did you...." "Angels have more abilities then you realize." "Well I didn't see that coming. I'll have to remember that." "It only works when time is frozen. We have the ability to do things. So I'll take watch and you start to do your thing." "What about the time?" "I think it's best we keep it frozen. Because we wouldn't want someone coming in here and catching you in your old lab. It could spell bad for you and your mission." "I agree." I raced over towards my old station and pulled the box containing the seal out from my pocket. I opened the box up and took my scissors and tried to cut off a sample. As soon as I touched the seal it burned my hands. "OUCH!" Michael camel racing over to me. "What happened?" "The seal burned me." "Yeah, it is because it's pure dark energy. You won't be able to touch it with your bare hands." I reached for my lab gloves in the drawer. I put them over my hands and picked up the seal. I took the scissors to the seal and it wouldn't cut it. "Okay so we may have to try and find another tool to cut this with." Michael reached for his sword and pulled it out of the sheath. He took the sword and scrapped off a small piece of the seal in to the sample cup. "I didn't think of that." "That's why I'm your trainer." I chuckled a bit. "If that were true then you should have been the one too teach me about my abilities. So far Haniel and myself figured most of them out." I look put they sample into the scanner. "Okay in about 5 minutes we are going to know everything about this thing." Just then we heard a loud snarl and growl come outside the office. "It's a safe bet they know where here. Is there anyway you can hurry that machine?" "No, there isn't. We can hold them off." "No, you stay in here and guard the station. I'll take care of these demons." Michael raced out the door and I could hear swords clashing. "Wait, how is that possible." I ran to the door and peaked outside to see these two humans wielding what look like gladiator swords. "How did they get swords?" I watched as Michael was swinging his sword against in clash. He was truly a sight to watch. Just then I heard some glass break behind me. I turned to see a human standing near my station. "You need to get away from there." As I walked towards the station the figure standing in the shadows started to look clearer. The eyes were glowing red. "We meet again Mark." "Mom!" "Oh, how touching. You think you are talking to your Mom." "I have to know, did she take you in willingly or by force?" I watched as the demon possessing my mom started to pace the floor. "What do you care?" Snarled the Demon. "I must know. Did she take you on willingly or by force." I looked in desperation hoping this demon would tell me the truth. If I can be honest I was buying some time for the sample to finish. I knew that whatever came out of that mouth was more than likely a lie. "She didn't take me willingly. In fact she screamed at the top of her voice to be freed." I wasn't expecting that answer. "What! How did you get her then?" "She was getting her life turned around. She wanted to go to church again. Her and your father felt it was time to dedicated there lives back to God. So they went to church and were doing everything they thought was they truth." "A false church." "That's right, you've heard of them no doubt. Well let's just say they gave themselves to Satan and next thing you know they were getting there seal." "You won't get away with this. I will free her and my Dad." The demon inside my mom Chuckled. "You're the one who is going to die today boy." The demon reached towards his back with both arms and pulls out two smaller blades. "What?!" The Demon laughed at my surprise. "That's right. You are not the only one with a weapon now. We all are equipped with weapons now to defeat you. The Demon charged me with both of the blades stretched out in his hands. He sliced and diced through the air and I dodged everyone. I retracted my wings in to make it easier to move around. I flipped over my mom's demon and landed on the other side of her. I pulled my sword out and held it next to my head. "You are going to let my Mom go today." I rushed my mom's demon she blocked the first swing and second. Every time I would make a swing at her I would get blocked. Then the Demon dodged my swing and came to my side and took his left hand and shoved the dagger like blade into my side. I felt the burning of the blade penetrate my skin. "AH!!!!" The demon was shocked that white smoke was not coming out of me. "Wait, what are you?" I looked at the demon with my eyes and he could see that I was no normal angel. "Wait, you're not a host. What are you?" I grabbed the dagger like blade and pulled it from my side. "I'm am no normal human being. I'm no host to an angel. I am an angel." Just then the demon panicked and put the other dagger like blade to his neck. "What are you doing?" I didn't know what to do. I was helpless at this point. "If you don't hand over the seal now. I'll kill your mother." He had me at a turning point. I couldn't risk losing my mother. I put my sword back in the sheath and walked over to the computer. I grabbed the seal inside the box. "You swear you will let her go if I give you this?" "I won't kill her, I never said I would let her go. No she is too valuable to us now." The demon had me at a disadvantage and he knew it. I tossed the dish to the demon. As it soared through the air Michael comes in the door just as the demon caught the seal and busted through the window. I ran over to see if my Mom was okay, but she was gone with her Demon. "Tell me you didn't just give them the seal?" I turned towards Michael. "Yes, I'm sorry. I had no choice." "I told you relationships in battle always make things complicated." "She was my mother!" "Now how are we suppose to study the seal. You've doomed all of humanity!" I stood there as Michael had this anger look on his face and I could tell he was disappointed.
