Basic Consonants
ㄱ➡️ g as in gun
ㅂ➡️ b as in bear
ㄴ➡️ n as in need ️
ㅅ➡️s as in sad
ㄷ➡️ d as in door
ㅈ➡️ j as in joy
ㄹ➡️ l or r
ㅍ➡️ p as in present
ㅁ➡️ m as in min
ㅎ➡️ h as in hear
*can't be pronounced alone*
*must be made into a word block with a vowel*
Fake Consonant ㅇ
*a so-called fake consonant for vowels with no consonant*
For example: Baaa must be written 바아아아.
Fake Vowel ㅡ
*a so-called fake vowel for consonants with no vowel*
Example: 스테이션 (station)
Additional strokes
ㅣ➡️ i as in tree
ㅏ➡️ a as in father
ㅓ➡️ eo as in up
ㅜ➡️ oo as in root
ㅗ➡️ o as in open
Consonants with Additional Strokes
ㅋ➡️ c as in cake
ㅌ➡️ t as in talk
ㅊ➡️ ch as in chair
ㅍ➡️ p as in present
Vowels with Additional Strokes: Y + original pronunciation
ㅑ➡️ ya as in yahoo
ㅕ➡️ yeo as in
ㅛ➡️ yo as in yogurt
ㅠ➡️ yu as in you
Reading order
Vertical: top to right, then bottom
Horizontal: up to bottom
받침 is always read at the end.
Consonants + 받침

ㅇ ➡️ ng as in King
