The shift

Hadley's POV

As I sat there and watched his bones crack, it sent shivers down my spine. How could this be happening? How is it even possible? So many questions, so much confusion... I peered up to see the big black wolf take a step towards me. He has green eyes, just like Ryan and was massive. "Sit" i yelled at him. "Stay" He complies with my commands as I try to come to terms with what's happening. "Shift back so we can talk" I asked, still scared out of my mind and shaking. I watch as a now naked Ryan stands in front of me. "What the fuck was that Ryan? Why has this been kept a secret for so long? What are you?" I asked.

"Hadley, I know this is a lot to take in at the moment, let me make some hot chocolate and we will sit on the couch and talk about it" Ryan replied so calmly. I simply nodded my head and walked over to the couch. The living room over looked the mountain and has a breath taking view. I sat and waiting for him to come back from the kitchen with hot chocolate. As he walks in I see he's now thrown on some shorts, still shirtless, but I don't mind looking at his 6 pack abs and tan skin. "My eyes are up here Hadley" I blushingly looked up at him while he handed me a cup.

"I know you have questions, and I will answer anything you ask, just please listen and don't be afraid" I nod my head and try to think of the first question I should ask out of the hundreds going through my mind. "What are you?" I asked, "I am a werewolf, there are thousands of us all over the world. We have many classmates that are werewolves too. Jared's a wolf, and a few other football players are wolves." He replied. "Have you been like this all your life?" I asked "yes, my parents were purebreds. My father was an alpha." He looked sad when he mentioned his parents. "Do you know what happened to them?" After this question his face dropped, and tears started to form in his eyes.

"Hadley, there are different kinds of wolves in this world, pack members and rogues. Rogues are wolves who don't have packs, they don't have rules and kill on an instant with no self control. My mother was walking down the river on a stroll when a rogue came to her sights. Before she could even say help she was ripped to shreds. My father felt her pain and ran towards her, only to find her body. He was attacked from behind by this rogue and ripped apart too." His voice was cracking while telling me all this, I could tell it was hard for him. "Ryan, how did your dad feel her pain if he wasn't with her? I asked. "Wolves have mates" he replied, "mates last a lifetime, it's a bond that forms. Once you've bonded with your mate and completed the mating process, you feel every emotion and pain your mate feels. If they're angry you feel it. If they're sad you will feel it. If something break in their body, you will feel the same pain they feel in the exact same spot."

I couldn't help but wonder if Ryan has a mate... would that mean once he found his mate it would be over between us? "Have you found your mate Ryan?" I quietly asked, hoping to hear he hadn't found her yet so we would have more time together. "Yes" he replies, "it's you". My face lit up like a Christmas tree. "But I'm not a wolf? How can I be your mate?" I ask. "The moon goddess chose you for me. She has a funny way of pairing us, but I'm happy it's you" I am blushing at this point. "Do you want to be a wolf?" I jokingly asked. Me? A wolf? How could I even be a wolf? What would Anna Grace think? Could Anna Grace be a wolf? So many questions still running through my mind.

"I don't know Ryan, this is a lot to take in. How would I become a wolf if I decided to?" He smiled so big and scooted over to me, his eyes began to darken. He grabbed my waist and sat me on top of his lap, why is this so hot, and pulled me down closer to his face. His eyes fully black now he leans up into my neck and kisses it softly, chills ran down my spine and my body began to shiver. "Do you feel that Hadley? All I have to do is bite you right there and you will began your journey to shift to a wolf. All you have to do is say yes" his voice was deeper than it usually is. He kept kissing my neck and a small moan would slip out. He began rubbing my waist and started kissing all over me, I could feel his member starting to get hard. "Yes" I screamed. "Turn" before I could even finish I felt a sharp pain in my neck, but it was more pleasurable than painful. It lasted for about 30 seconds and then butterflies filled my stomach as he licked my wound.

I looked back down at him and he picked up and slammed me against the wall, nearly knocking the breath out of me. I looked into his eyes to see pitch black, this wasn't Ryan...it was Axon. "You are ours now Hadley Baker. I have marked you, and soon you will shift into your wold. It will be painful your first few times. You will also go into heat shortly after you shift. Your body will be on fire and I will have to be with you in order for it to stop." I took a breath and asked what heat was. "You will bear our pups when you go into heat. We will mate and you will get pregnant. Don't worry, the pack doctor will explain it all when we get you checked out after your first shift" he has an evil grin on his face, and I feel faint..all of a sudden everything goes black.

Ryan's POV
Damnit Axon, you scared her and she fainted. "Sorry, I haven't been in control  since the night with Melissa" I regretted that night so much. Wolves have a high tolerance for alcohol but that night I'm pretty certain Melissa dropped something in my drink, bc I don't remember anything but what Axon remembers. Melissa is a pack member of the New Moon Pack, and has had a thing for me since we were pups. She swears we're mates but I know we're not. When I graduate and become a full alpha I will exile her to be a rouge. And if I find out she's the one threatening my girl, I will kill her.

My parents made it clear in their will that I will not have full alpha power until I graduate. My dads beta has been handling things until then. And when I graduate early in January his son,Jared, will be my beta. Jared and I have been friends since pups. He is my best friend, he recently told me that Anna Grace is his mate, I wonder how she's going to take it that he's a wolf and now her best friend is a wolf. Jared's a sweet talker, he will figure it out if he hasn't already. I pick my mate up and walk to the barn, in one of the stalls is a door that has a long tunnel, about 3 miles long, that leads to the pack houses. We have a gated community that is guarded at all times, we see humans all the time trying to buy the houses in the community but we have to steer them away without giving up our secret. My people live normal lives, they have jobs inside the pack house and outside the community, the pups go to private and public schools outside the community, whatever the parents prefer, and we have day cares for the pups who are still pups inside the community. We try to live as normal as possible to blend in. I walked into the pack doctor and was greeted by Finn. "Alpha" he says as he bows to me. "Is this your mate? She's very pretty" I let out a low growl and he bowed his head to me. "I'm going to need to stick an IV in her wrist, we will run some test to make sure she's alright. It seems she's getting ready to shift, probably in the next day or so" I thanked him and shut the door after he left so I could sit with my girl. I watched as her eye began to flutter open. "Ryan? Where am I" she asked so timidly. "You're at the pack house doctor babe, you fainted. We're getting you checked out to make sure nothing is going to interrupt your shift" I replied. I walked over to her and sat on the bed next to her. She reached up and grabbed my hand, her touch felt so good.

After a few hours, her tests came back clear and we were discharged. As we walked through the community, she looked like she had just seen a unicorn. Everyone bowed their heads as we walked by. "Why are they bowing Ryan?" I smirked "they're bowing because I am their alpha and you will soon be their Luna. They are showing their respects by bowing to us". After I said that she stopped dead in her tracks, "how did we get here?" I couldn't help but giggle and grabbed her hand. As we walked up to the cave she began to ask another question. I grabbed her face and planted a soft kiss on her lips. "Trust me, and come on" she nodded and grabbed my hand as we walked to the tunnel. As we approached the barn door I turned to her and said "this is the tunnel that leads to our pack house, this is the way you'll take if our house is ever under attack" again she nodded and we walked through the door. "Wait a minute, this is the barn you said I was never allowed to go into?" I giggled "Yes, you were a human and I couldn't risk you finding the door and going to the pack house. They would have murdered you in an instant" her eyes widened. "Come on. Let's go get something to eat. Red Lobster? Outback? Tacos?" I asked. "Can we get tacos? And some mojitos please." She eagerly responded. "Let's go baby girl".
