Hi I’m Chris I am 14 years old and I live in Mesquite a small village in southern Nevada. I live with my two adoptive parents and their Triplets Brooke, Victoria, and Emma who are all 17 and we all live in a big hut. I am unsure what ever happened to my parents but I want to find out soon. My adoptive mother Julie has tried to teach me how to act normal mostly because orphans are disliked in my village. My adoptive father Carl is King Ethan Burbidge’s (The second) royal cook. He is really good friends with the king so he gets paid extra on the holidays.
So you probably want to know more about me so here we go, my name is Christopher Jack Ferrell. That is my real name, my adoptive name is Wayment. I go to school at the public school but next year I will be training as an apprentice for one of the masters. My sisters don’t go to school anymore and mainly help my mother with laundry and cooking and sewing. During my spare time I help my father carry and pick-up groceries.
During my free time I play with my partner/pet unicorn fairy Fairycorn. I also hangout with my friends: Toni Wafers, Cat Miramonte, Maddi Aardma (my best friend) and my other partner Wanito Gonzalez. We usually hang-out by the food stands in the market but we made a hide-out not far from where I live. There are these rich kids who live near the king that always pick on us: Taya Nitkowski, Shadow Floyd, Ashlyn Spencer, and Chrysanthemum Turtleneck.
Enough about me, let’s get to the story. I wake up and when I get out of my bed I notice that Fairycorn was out of her bed, so I put on my clothes and walk outside in the blazing hot summer day and I notice that fairy had gone to the fruit stand to get a pomegranate for breakfast. So I walk back inside and mom says, “Chris will you go get some food and more candles.” Then I reply, “yes mom.” And walk down the way to the food mart and see Toni sitting down eating an apple and go and sit by her and Clay. They’re talking when I sit down and Toni throws the apple at me and says, “Hey where were you.” And Clay says, “Were you cleaning the armor?” and I chuck the apple at his head and it hits him.
Then I spit back “No I woke up late, why were you waiting for me?” Then it goes on for another 5 minutes when I realize that I need to pick up the food. So I say, “Goodbye.” And leave to get the food and candles. When I get to the food stand, I see Paul the fruit guy and ask him, “Hey what’s fresh?” and Paul replies, “The apples and the oranges just came in, how much do you want?” I say, ”I want 4 pounds of both please.” And as he starts on that I ask him how his wife and kids are. He says. “That they’re doing great with the clothes my sisters sewed them.” And then He says, “That will be 45 gold coins.” And I give him the money and he gives me the bags and I head back home. And on the way I chuck an apple at Toni and she almost caught it and laughed.
When I got back home Doctor Morse was at the house and was checking my mom. When he was done he told her, “Ma’am I believe that you are pregnant.” And my father came out of their room and shouted with glee, “We shall have another child.” And he ran off to work before he was late. So I tell my mom “I’m going outside mom.” And go outside. I walk over to where Toni and Clay are talking and as I’m walking down there I see Taya standing by her dad and she was so beautiful, she put half of the girls to shame. Too bad she is mean to me. I think as I’m walking.
When I finally get there Toni and Clay are talking and holding hands, and I’m sitting there talking to them and Bailee Munoz walks over and sits by me. And as she does that I think, wow she is really hot. But she is a really good friend of mine. So we all start talking and Toni’s dad yells, “Toni come home now!” So she runs home and I start walking away from my house towards the hideout.
As I near towards our hide-out I see this really pretty girl sitting alone by a tree, so I go sit by her. When I sit down she looks at me and starts laughing and says, “Who are you, and what do you want from me.” And I reply, “I don’t want anything from you.” So she introduces herself as Karizma Speer. And then I introduce myself as Chris Jack Ferrell. So she starts saying, “I like you you’re can I hang out with you and your friends?” So I say, “Yes Karizma.” And ask her, “Why were you sitting there crying?” so she says, “Because it is funny what people say.”
So we start walking to get Wanito, and Toni. While we are walking Karizma asks me, “Are you an orphan?” and I reply, “Yes why?” and she replies, “Because orphans are cool.” When we get there I asked Toni and Wanito, “Hey want to go to the hide-out with my new friend Karizma, and I?” So they both say simultaneously, “Sure.” So we start walking and we see a weird shadow following us. When we stop at our hide-out the shadow tells us to huddle and tells us, “There are 3 people trying to kill you guys.” and disappears. So the Hide-out is this old castle that half-way fell over.
We go into the old Kings bedroom, because it is perfect for the group. And just basically start talking and eating food that we stashed in there. We hear a giant ruckus outside and so we walk downstairs and see this giant army of enemy soldiers coming towards our town. So we all run back into the castle to the king’s bedroom. A few minutes later Clay runs in out of breath. And asks us, “Did you guys see the army?”
“The army?” we all ask in sync. “Yeah there is a giant army coming towards the city.” Clay said with horror in his voice. We all go outside and we see it. The giant army, filled with rams, and knights, and catapults. So we all race back inside and decide to wait out the attack. Clay whispers, “what should we do and how long are we going to stay here?” then I reply, “We are going to go outside when they leave but until then let’s stay here.
After what seems like hours, we finally hear them leaving, so I go outside with Clay to see if they left. When we get out there all that is left is one horseman and he throws a moltav (burning bottle) at us and it ignites by me and catches my arm. So Clay runs and finds water and puts it out. After that we run inside and tell the others that they are gone. So we all go outside and the first thing we see is nothing but rubble and dead bodies. We walk through the village and the first person I see is Mason. I walk over to him and all I see is black and red, and his body is all torn up.
As we keep walking around I grab some aloe and some leaves to cover my burn. I noticed that everyone was dead, and all the buildings were destroyed. The doctor’s house, the king’s palace, and the whole food market are all scorched and bloody. Clay and I walk over to where my house was and I start digging through the rubble. When I get to the bottom I saw something with my name on it that I wasn’t supposed to have till I was 18. “Oh my what is this?” I said.
