Author's note: sorry I couldn't upload chapter 2 quicker, my computer was being fixed. how about that cliff hanger though. LOL

I opened the chest and I saw a piece of paper. I picked it up and read it out loud: “Dear son, your father and I are sorry that we had to give you up for adoption. The reason is because the village doesn’t like warriors like our family and we wanted you to grow up normal, and choose your own path. If you want to live with us and like us it is going to be a very challenging path. Just start up Mount Everest and follow the path least traveled on till you find a village on the very top. Then go to the biggest hut that is where your father and I will be.”

“Do you guys know what this means?” I ask excitedly.  “What does it mean?” Clay asks. So I say excitedly, “This means that I can finally meet my parents!” Then Wanito takes the paper and continues reading, “P.S. You will encounter many obstacles on your way, but we were prepared and packed you some armor and two swords. Love, Mom.” Whoa I got armor and two swords.” I said. We all start looking around the rubble for the box, then Clay finds the box and I help him lift it out of its place and set it down away from the rubble.

I open it and there is: two chainmail chest plates, two chainmail pants, two metal helmets, and one sword with a bunch of rubies and diamonds embedded in the hilt and one normal double-sided sword. I put on one pair of armor and grab the better sword, and tell clay to put on the other armor. He puts it on and we look pretty nice and Toni compliments Clay, “Wow that armor really brings out your eyes and your muscles.” Then the rest of us including Clay start laughing at her but in a friendly-mean way.

Now that we are done messing around for right now, Clay and I start scrimmaging each other with our swords (Sword training is one of the first things you learn). We start going at it and we both block each other’s swings and thrusts. Then I do a fake swing into a thrust and Clay doesn’t realize it and I got him in the lower ride side of his abdomen. So I immediately put my sword in the sheath. I run over to where the doctor’s house was and start rummaging through the rubble and find some gauze, rope, and peroxide. I go back there and wipe some blood away and clean it out; then I put the gauze on and tie the rope around his body to hold it.

“Sorry Bro”, I say after I clean him up. Then he replies, “It’s all good we were just messing around. We all help him up and carry him back to the hideout. Once we get there we lay him down on some giant cloths and let him try to sleep. After he is asleep I say, “Wanito you have first shift from 8 pm to 2 am. So you better get some sleep also. He goes and lies down near Clay and dozes off also. So it ends up being: Toni, Em (Emillie), Cat, Bailee, Karizma, Fairycorn and I.

We all start talking and Bailee and I go out to find some food. So we leave and I start to get really nervous around her because I like her but I try not to let my nervousness show. We find a horse cart and we pull it and pile the good food we can find into it. Halfway through the trip Bailee asks me, “Can I ask you something?” so I say, “Sure” and she asks, “Do you like me?” I blush and say, “Yes, why? So she answers, “Because you seem really nervous when you are around or talk to me.”

After about an hour and a half, we finally fill up the cart and pull it back “Home”. When we get there the candle says 8 o’ clock. So we all walk into the old kitchen, grab something to eat. After that we walked back to where we were sleeping and Wan stayed awake in front of us with my sword and stood (sat) guard. When Wan woke me up he said it was 2 o’ clock and said it was my turn to watch guard. Wan crawled into where I was sleeping in the middle of the group, and I sat down and watched guard.

I looked over and already 2 hours have passed by. I start hearing strange noises and I walk outside and couldn’t really see anything. I walk over to the noise and I trip and hit my head really hard. I wake up to someone shaking me really hard. It turns out to be Bailee and when I try to get up she says, “Don’t get up you hit your head really hard and passed out.” Then I ask what time is it and she replies, “8 o’ clock roughly.” So after about an hour I can finally get up and I walk over to the hide-out room and Clay is up and sitting down. Toni is over next to him cleaning his wound again and dressing it.

After she is done doing that I walk over there and sit down next to him and we started talking. I ask him, “How are you doing right now?” So he replies, “It still hurts but not quite as much as it did. Hey, what happened to you?” So I told him what happened about me falling while on guard duty. And he replies with sarcasm lacing his voice, “How did you do that Mr. Balance?” Right after that I smack him and he falls over and starts laughing but in pain because of his side. After we are done I help him back up.

When everyone is back into the room we all huddle around and I start talking about the plan. I say, “Clay you are in charge of the weapons, Toni you are in charge of equipment, Em you are in charge of the first aid and route, Wan you are in charge of supervising and making sure everything is handled correctly. Lastly Bailee, you are in charge of food, and I’ll find us transportation. Any questions?” Then Wan asks, “Why am I in charge of supervising?” And then I reply, “Because you have nothing better to do.”
