After a few hours of playing tag, it started to get dark so we all walked back to camp. Tomorrow we are going up the mountain to the next town about 5 miles up. For now we are just going to eat and go to bed. Once again I’m stuck on guard duty. I climbed up the same tree and sat there waiting for something. After about two hours Chrysthanthunum Turtleneck starts walking towards camp so I hop down silently and sneak behind her. I follow her unnoticed until she nears toward Bailee. When she bends over I run up behind her and try to stab her with my sword.
She hears me and turns around and jumps out of the way and I almost stab Bailee instead. She wakes up and screams seeing the sword centimeters away from her side. Clay gets up and grabs his bow and starts shooting. While he is doing that I sneak up behind her again and slit her throat. She falls to the ground and Wan is trying to start a fire. He gets the fire going and Clay and I pick her up and start to carry her to the fire. When we get over there we throw her in there but as soon as she starts to hit the fire, she disappears. Great she left once again.
Well now it’s just about sunrise so we grab some grapefruits and put them on sticks and start roasting them. After a few min we grab them and start eating them. After I finish I go over by where Bailee and I have been sleeping and start packing it over the weapons. After she is done Bailee walks over hugs me and starts helping me tie it down with the rope. After we are done I run over and help Clay lift some really heavy stuff into the back of his wagon. We tie that down and group together.
Clay and I are placed on scouting, Tony R. and Carter are placed on guarding the carts, and Wan is placed on the back end. The girls are placed on pulling the three carts. Bailee is pulling the weapons cart, Em is pulling the food, and Cat and Toni are pulling the catapult. We all have 5 mins before we have to leave. Clay walks over to Toni and gives her a long hug before he has to leave for scouting. I walk over to Bailee and she hugs. I won’t deny the hug. The five mins pass way too fast. Clay and I grab our bows and swords and start up ahead.
After about 5 mins I call out that the path is clear, and they start moving forward. Then after they leave Wan is supposed to be right behind them. The village we are heading towards is maybe 1 day trip if we are lucky. We keep heading forward and we stop because we spot a 4-point buck, Clay lifts up his bow and shoots at the buck. We see it drop down and we start half running towards the buck. When we get there I start skinning and gutting it while Clay puts a message on it to signal that it’s good to pick up and put in the cart. We get that done and we start up again towards the city.
Toni’s P.O.V
I am pulling the cart with the heavy catapult in it with one of my best friends Cat. I really hope that Clay is safe scouting with Chris. I think Marco and him used to like me a few years ago. It’s still hard to believe that the village was burned down just over a year ago. My arms are starting to get tired so I start talking to Cat.
“Hi.” I say trying to get my mind off of my aching arms.
“Hi.” She says. Cat is Latino but lived here because Mexico owned it.
“How are you and Clay?” she asks. Really she just has to bring that topic up.
“Do you really have to bring that up?” I ask with annoyance in my voice. I get caught up talking to Cat that we run into the cart in front of us. Turns out that we came upon a gutted deer. Carter wraps it in a cloth and places it in the food cart. We keep walking for about maybe an hour then we see Clay and Chris clearing out a little area for us to rest for the day.
