Chapter 2: You May Now Kiss The Bride

Jack was mad at himself for leaving Anna but he needed to get away, he need... To breath. He looked at the ring in his hand, "Oh god what was I going to do?" He asked himself or the water he was looking at as he stood on the bride trying to think. He had to think of a way to get out of this marriage, for him and for Anna. He saw how she was looking at that severe, she was really in love with him. The only thing he could think of that could even help her a little was to marry her, and let her still be with that severe, to be that husband who... Didn't care.

He moved his fingers through his hair, "That won't work... People would find out and then she'd be an adultery." He said to himself. He couldn't do that to Anna, or to that severe she loved. He let out a groan and started to walk to the woods, to the only place that made sense to him. He could feel the sun wanting to set, he had maybe only a few hours left before he was support to get married. Why their family wanted to get married at midnight was beyond him but that's what they wanted and that's what they'll get he guessed.

Jack was so lost in his head he didn't even notice where he was or how far he got into the woods. But not long he sat down on a log and looked at the ring again. "I know these vows by heart, I know them." Jack says to himself as he looks over and sees a branch sticking out from under the ground that almost looked like a hand. He took a deep breath, "Okay." He says as he stands up and raises his left hand, "With this hand, I will lift your sorrows." Jack says as he looks at the branch, "You look lovely tonight my dear." He says to the branch, picturing someone he loved, someone with the ocean blue eyes. He smiles as he holds up his hand again like he was holding a cup, "Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine."

Jack looks around until he found stick that looked like a candle, "Perfect." He says to himself as he breaks it off and holds it to another branch. "With this candle, I will light your way in darkness." He says turning back to the branch that looks like a hand. Jack got down on one knee holding the ring. "With this ring, I ask you, to be mine." Jack says as he places the ring on the longer stick from the branch. He looked at the branch with a smile as he felt the wind pick up.

"Wind?" He says wondering where the wind come from. He was about to stand up when he felt something grab his wrist. He looks down to see the branch that had his ring on it was wrapped around his wrist. "Shit!" He screams falling back as the branch broke off but it was still wrapped around his wrist and it almost looked like it tighten around it more. He winced as he shook his hand making it fly off finally. He could feel his heart start to beat faster as he heard another noise. He looks back to see the ground start to break open as a hand reached out from under the ground.

Jack sat frozen as someone pulled their way out of the ground and stood up. The person was wearing a white wedding dress with a slip on the side and blue around the edges. Her face was covered by a vail and she was missing her left hand. Jack sat stunned as the woman used her right hand to lift up her vail showing a beautiful woman with a sweet smile, "I do." She whispers making Jack slide back before he finally got the energy and strength back to stand up and ran away. The corpse couldn't help but giggle as she starts to walk after him. Jack kept running as he looked down to see the branch he swung off became a skeleton hand and was crawling after him. "No no no!" Jack said to himself as he kept running.

The corpse kept walking as she walked past her hand and picked it up placing it back on her wrist. She wiggled her fingers with a smile and kept walking chasing the man that brought her back.

Jack was almost to town, he was close, he could see the bridge, he knew that if he made it to the bridge, he would be safe. Behind him, he could hear cawing. "Please just make it to the bridge!" Jack screamed to himself as he pushed himself harder to go faster. He closed his eyes and screamed until he heard the cawing of the crows behind him fly above his head. He opened his eyes to see he was on the bridge, he was safe. He looked around, making sure no one followed him, that he was really safe. Not seeing anyone, Jack let out a sigh of relief, wondering if he even did see what he thought he saw. He moved his hand over his face, "Come now Jack, do you really think you saw a corpse br..." He stopped when he opened his eyes and saw the corpse in front of him staring at him.
