Chapter Eleven

Logan's POV
Christina and I were on the opposite sides of Alex, trying to hold her hands and keep her calm.
"alright... on three let's try to give a big push okay Alex?" the Doctor said
"one. Two. Three" he said
Alex let out a cry of pain as she held onto my hand
"good, and again" he said
She kept crying out in pain and holding onto me
"you're almost there Alex" the doctor said
It felt like she was going to break my hand because she was holding so hard. After about twenty minutes of pushing we heard crying.
"Congratulations, you have a daughter" the doctor said holding her up
"Logan do you want to cut the cord?" he asked me
"really? Me?" I asked surprised
"sure I'd love too!" I said
Alex smiled as I moved to where the baby was. I took the small pair of scissors and cut the cord. My hands were shaking but I did it. As soon as they made sure the baby was okay they let Alex hold her
"she's so beautiful" Alex said
"yea just like her Mom" I said
"Alex honey she's beautiful" Christine said
"I want to grab a picture real quick but then I'll give you three some time" she said
Alex was holding her and I put my arm around her and we all smiled when Christina took the picture.
"Logan do you want to hold her?" Alex asked me after her Mom left
"really? How do I hold a baby?" I asked her
"just like this" she said handing her to me
"just be sure to hold her head" she said
"wow" I said
"she's so beautiful" I said
Holding a brand new baby felt amazing. The fact that Alex and I created this whole little person was amazing to me.
"she has your eyes" I said
      After I'd gotten to hold her for a few minutes the doctor's took her to clean her up and they wrapped her in a blanket and put a pink hat on her. They finally left us alone and that's when Alex fed her. She unbuttoned her gown and I watched as the baby learned how to latch onto her nipple. She let her eat for a few minutes and then she covered back up
"hey did you text my Mom? She can come back with Wade now" Alex said
"yea I'll text her" I said
       I sent the text and then just sat with Alex and the baby
"so what are we thinking for her name?" Alex asked me
"oh gosh, I guess we didn't think of names did we?" I asked
"maybe... I kind of like Annabeth" I said
"I know that was your character from our Percy Jackson days, but it was also how we met" I said
"but if you don't like it" I said
"I think that's perfect. I always liked that name after that movie anyway" she said
      After we chose the name, there was a knock on the door and it was Alex's family and Wade.
"Mommy!" Wade said
"hi sweetheart!" Alex said
"Wade this is your sister" she said
"what's her name?" he asked
"well we decided to call her Annabeth" she said
"we've always liked the name since Percy Jackson and it was when Logan and I met" she said
"Mommy what's Percy Jackson?" Wade asked
"well your Dad and I are actors, so it was movie we did a long time ago. You can see it when your older" Alex said
"do you want to hold her Wade?" Alex asked
"yea!" he said
"just be gentle. Be sure to hold her head" Alex said
        We were all just smiling and watching as Wade was introduced to his new sister. Alex's sister Catherine was getting photo's of everything which was nice. Wade handed Annabeth back to Alex and then Alex let her Mom and brother hold her too.

       Later that evening they offered to take Annabeth to the nursery and although Alex argued with me I told her it'd be a good idea to let her sleep. We were aloud to go home tomorrow if all of Alex's and Annabeth's vitals were normal.
        Christina took Wade home for the night to let him get a good night's sleep. And as tight as the hospital bed was, I tried to climb up onto it so I could sleep with Alex
"I'm proud of you" I said to her before we went to sleep
"I couldn't have done it without you" she said
"oh yes you could've. You had Wade remember?" I said
"yea but you don't know how much of a mess I was when I had him" she said
"I love you" I said
"I love you too" she said
       I leaned in and kissed her and we both fell asleep fairly quickly.

The next morning I woke up first and Alex was still asleep. I took a quick shower and changed into my other set of clothes. While she was asleep I left her a note saying I was bringing up some breakfast sandwiches, a few yogurts and some fresh fruit. I also stopped by the nursery to see if I could take Annabeth too her
"good morning" I said coming back into the room seeing her sit up
"hey! Good morning you two" she said smiling
"I thought you'd like some breakfast, and I have a special visitor" I said rolling the hospital crib towards her
"hi sweetheart" Alex said as she picked Annabeth up
"did you get any sleep?" I asked her as I sat beside her on the bed
"a little. The hospital beds are always uncomfortable" she said
"yea I know" I said
Annabeth started to cry when she woke up so Alex handed her to me so she could try to feed her
"come here sweetie" she said
She was quiet again after she began to eat which was good. She ate for about fifteen minutes and then Alex pulled her gown back up
"you up for eating something?" I asked her
"I'll try a yogurt" she said
"I can take Annabeth" I said
Alex handed her to me and I cradled her in my arms
"she looks so tiny" I said
"that's because she's less then a day old" Alex said
"she'll get big fast. I still can't believe Wade is five" she said
"well just so you know you'll be stuck with me this time" I said
"I'n not going anywhere" I said
"good" she said smiling at me
After we'd been up for a while and Alex managed to get some breakfast in, the doctor came and knocked on the door
"good morning you three" he said
"how are you feeling Alex?" he asked
"pretty good. Still tired and a little sore but I'n doing fine" she said
"I see Miss Annabeth is up this morning" he said smiling
"yea she's already had a feed" Alex said
"well I have to check your vitals and give Annabeth a quick look over but if you two are up to it you can go home whenever you'd like" he said
I handed Annabeth to a nurse and watched as they checked Alex's heart rate and blood pressure
"everything's normal" he said
"as soon as Annabeth comes back if you'd like to sign some papers, you three can be on your way" he said
"thank you" Alex said
Annabeth came back with the all clear and Alex signed the papers so we could go home
"I think I want to shower and change, do you mind watching her?" she asked
"no go for it" I said
"I'm here if you need help" I said
I took Annabeth and walked her around and showed her the room and talked with her. About fifteen minutes later Alex had come out with her change of clothes on
"we all set?" she asked
"yea I can grab the bag if you take Annabeth" I said
When we got home Alex's Mom was there to greet us
"hey you three!" she said
"I hope you don't mind, Catherine took Wade to the park and for some ice cream" she said
"oh that's fine. Thank you for watching him" Alex said
Wade and Catherine got back about an hour later and he ran over to Alex
"Mommy!" he said
"hi sweetie!" Alex said
"hey don't I get a hug?" I asked
"Daddy!" he said
"hi Buddy" I said

Later that evening Alex's family had to drive back home and we settled in for the night for the first time with Annabeth. We all stayed up and watched a movie and then I helped Alex put the kids to bed. I read Wade a bed time story while Alex gave Annabeth her last feed for the night.
"how did Wade go down?" she asked coming into our bedroom
"he was good. He barely made it to the end of storytime" I said
"yea he's a good sleeper" she said
"how was Annabeth?" I asked her
"very hungry, but then she sort of passed out tired so let's hope she stays that way" she said
"how was Wade when he was little?" I asked her
"sleep wise I mean" I said
"he was terrible for about the first week or two and then as he got older he fell right to sleep" she said
"did we make sure to put batteries in the baby monitor?" she asked me
"yes, and I already have it turned on" I said
"good" she said as she changed into her tank top and shorts for the night
She came over and laid beside me and I put my arm around her the way I always do at night
"goodnight Alex" I said kissing her
"goodnight Logan" she said smiling at me
I then turned off the light and we both fell asleep
