Ariana 💕
I woke up the next morning thirsty as hell. I wince at the sound of Violet's small whimpers. She must've just woke up too.
I sit up, making my way across the hall to her room. Just as I suspected, my baby girl was wide awake and she must be starving. I groan as I pick her up out of the crib and pat her back.
"Hungry?" I ask hoarsely, walking her out to the kitchen with me.
On the way to the kitchen, I see Kyle laying on the couch. I frown at how uncomfortable he must be. Y'all heard me tell him to get comfortable right? So that's kind of on him.
As I maneuver my way through the kitchen for water, I hear Kyle groaning, which means he was waking up. I gulp down a bottle of water like it was nothing. The reason I can't breastfeed Violet right now is because I have to flush the wine out of my system. And it's going to take a while.
Mommy instinct told me to pre-pump breast milk. And that is exactly what I did.
As I dug in the fridge to get Violet some breast milk, Kyle sat up on the couch. I listened to Violet coo against my shoulder. Kyle turned to face us in the kitchen.
"What's up?" I say, giving a head nod.
He gives one back. I walk over to him with Violet. I hand Violet to him and he leans against the back of the couch, letting her lay on his chest comfortably.
"I'm gonna get her milk ready then I'm going to shower. I smell like wine." I explain, walking back to the kitchen.
I make her milk then hand Kyle the bottle so he can feed her. I then go to the bathroom to shower and change my clothes.
After showering, I got dressed in gray sweatpants, and a black spaghetti strap cropped tank top. My hair was up in a messy bun.
Making my way back into the living room, I see Kyle talking to Violet.
"Can you talk to mommy for me, baby girl? She doesn't seem to want me on her good side and I'm just trying to be here for you. Not just that, but I really miss her. A lot." He spoke to her.
He was holding her against his chest, patting her back soothingly. I smile softly as I listen to her coo. He must've just finished burping her.
"Don't try to guilt trip me into forgiving you." I exclaim, sitting on the opposite end of the couch.
Kyle looked at me from over Violet's back.
"I was hoping she'd do it for me." He replied.
"I was not expecting you to be here this morning." I say, changing the subject.
"You said to get comfortable." He said, shrugging.
"I didn't mean it literally." I say.
"I figured after your little rant last night, everything you say from this point on is literal and intentional." He replied.
I just stare at him, not really knowing what to say after that. So to avoid discomfort, I lean my arm on the back of the couch and prop my legs up under me. I place Violet's body pillow between us and he lays her on it.
After adjusting her to where she'd be comfortable, he took the towel off his shoulder and placed it on the coffee table. He then sat back, looking at me. We just sat there looking at each other until he decided to speak up.
"Where do I start?" He asked.
"The very beginning." I say, pulling at Violet's onesie.
He took a deep breath before telling me everything.
"The first encounter with Nina was a huge mistake, you know that. Me and the boys won, went out to celebrate, I got drunk and got carried away. I made up for that, as you can see. And we were doing good. Up until Katya. I shouldn't have hurt you like that, especially when I knew you were down for me from the jump. You deserved better, so much better. And I kind of had the feeling that I wasn't doing that for you. From our very first problem, I had already known you deserved better. But I was being selfish and only thinking about myself. That's why Katya became a thing.
"I know all of this apologizing is not doing anything to help the situation, but I just want you to know that I'm truly sorry from the bottom of my heart. I want nothing more than to take all the pain I've caused you, put it in a lock box and drop it off a cliff. I also want to know where Allen is at so I can shove my foot up his ass."
I chuckle at his last comment, playing with Violet's little foot.
"I miss you more than anything, Ari. And if you truly don't want to work things out between us, I understand. But I need you to know that I will always be there for you. You and Violet are my top priorities now. If she's okay, then I know you're okay. Even if you're not okay, I want you to know that you can talk to me. Please don't drink your problems away."
"I love you both so much, and I will do everything that I have to do to reassure you guys of that. And there's nothing I want more than for the two of you to be at the games cheering me on, regardless of what terms we're on."
I couldn't really say anything after that. Being that I said everything I needed to last night, I just scanned his face for about 3 minutes before nodding in response. He smiled at me warmly, patting my knee.
We talked for a little while more about his upcoming season and some music that I'm currently working on. About 2 hours go by before he decides it's time for him to leave. I walk him to the door, carrying Violet and bouncing her around lightly. He turned to give her a kiss on the cheek, then bent down to rub Milo's head.
When he stood back up, he looked down at me. I held back tears as I cleared my throat.
"You okay?" He asked.
I nod, not wanting the tears to fall. He pulled me into a hug, rubbing my back in comfort. We stood like that for about 2 minutes, before he pulled away. As he made his way down the hall, I realized I had to say something.
"Kyle?" I say.
He turned around to face me.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you." I smile at him.
He smiled back.
"You're welcome."
He then turned back around. I close the door and lock it, sniffling and wiping at my eyes.
This is what I wanted. This is what I needed.
