I stared at the tall towers and the glimmering windows in awe. The castle looked even more beautiful now than it did when I came with my uncle. I came to the conclusion that no matter how many times I saw the castle it would never cease to amaze me with its magical beauty. We glided along the still black lake and came to a cave.

" Duck!" The gaint man called to us. I ducked without hesitation because I had heard the stories of how some people hadn't followed the instructions and had fell in.

We climbed out of the boats and on to a harbour. The man named Hagrid showed us to a large wooden door which he banged on with his fists. The door opened and a stern woman appeared. She was wearing an emerald green cloak with a matching hat and her gray hair was pulled back in to a bun. I thought of what fun it would be to prank her as she seemed the type of person that didn't get pranked very often. "My name is professer Mcgonagall." She said. My mind wandered to all of my classes as she gave a speech on the houses and the points. I already knew all of this as I had been told before we had come. The ghosts pulled me back in to my mind by making all of the first years jump. I spun on my heel and whipped out my wand coming face to face with Nearly headless Nick. This action shocked the ghosts.

"And what would your name be?" One of the ghosts asked with a slight sneer. He was quite large with bloody patches on his torso.

"And what would yours be?" I retorted mimicking his tone. He sniffed and glided through the opposite wall so I turned to the other ghosts.

"I hope to see you in my house, you would make a fine gryffindor." Nick said before sliding through the same wall. All of the ghosts followed swiftly.The first years looked at me in astonishment.

"Come on, follow me." Professer Mcgonagall beckoned to us and walked out of the door. I thought of an appropriate nick name for Professer McGonagall I came up with Minnie as it fitted her well. We came to another pair of wooden doors and she pushed them open revealing the Great hall.

Glistening candles floated above our heads as the purple and blue sky swirled above us. The stars glistened in the night sky and the 4 students tables were filled with chattering girls and boys who glanced at us (me imparticular). We walked up to the head of the hall where a stool and a hat were sat. The entire hall went silen and the hat began to sing.

Oh you may not think I'm pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you can find

A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head

The Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
