I slowly advanced through the street I had grown up in, towards the rejected corner shop for the last time.
As the week had gone on it finally settled in what was happening.
I was moving away from everything I had ever known. There was so much I was going to miss, friends, family, just familiar faces.
I know where everything is, I know everyone, I know how things work around here.
But when I move I'll have to learn all by myself. I'm sure it will all be fine.
I'd nearly packed everything just a few bits and pieces left.
6 hours before I leave. 6 hours of goodbyes and sadness and then I could have a fresh start.
I delicately push open the rusty door to the shop as the same old bell goes off signalling that someone had entered.
I take a steady walk around the shop, before picking up the items I wanted for the journey to the airport.
I make my way over to the counter and place down my few items.
"Hey" I smile politely at the shop owner.
"Hey how are you?" Eric replies.
"I'm good thanks you?" I ask
" £3.20 please, and I'm good, you seem down though what's up" he asks.
I hand over the money as I reply " well actually I'm leaving soon and umm by soon I mean in 6 hours" I say starting to feel quite upset.
" oh not too far away I hope?" He says simultaneously handing me my change.
" Melbourne, Australia" I reply bluntly.
" wow quite far away but that will be great experience for you though, like an adventure" he smiles.
" yeah I hope so" i chuckle.
"Keep in touch though and let me know how it all goes"
" I will do" I smile sweetly before leaving the shop for the last time.
I purposely walk slowly back as it will be the last time I will take this route.
I walk past a very familiar park where I spent a lot of time with my friends.
I sigh remembering the good and the bad times that were spent hear before speeding up towards my house.I walked into the now empty house and watch as my mum packs the final few items into a large cardboard box before taping it up and stamping it.
"There! That's all of the boxes done, finally!" She says in relief
"You know it's going to take a while for our furniture to arrive, will we be okay" I ask
"Yeah of course, the house already has the basic furniture in, so we will just have to cope for a while, but it's nothing we can't handle"
I nod in agreement before running upstairs to double check that everything was packed.
I take a seat on an old stool and look around my bare room.
There were blu tack marks on the walls from when I had a previous fan girl moment over one direction.
I smiled at the thought of adoring someone so much.
I walk over to the window, the window sill being damp and cold.
I glance outside and take a look at my small garden and the rusty trampoline that hasn't been used since I was 10.
I let out a giggle remembering when I thought I was going to compete as a trampolinist at the Olympics
I was soon distracted from my thoughts by the voice of my mother.
"Megan darling we need to go"
I start to feel sick when reality hits me. This is it. I'm leaving.
I take a deep breathe before dragging my suitcase downtown the stairs and out the front door, as I clamber into the taxi.
My mum takes a seat in the back next to me, and reaches for my hand.
" I can tell your nervous" she says "but this is going to be good for us" she added.
I give her a reassuring smile before looking out the window watching my house get further and further away.
" goodbye" I whisper.
