Megan's POV
We eventually arrive at the airport, I feel sick with nerves as I've never flown before.
We check in and they take our suitcases before going through security and finally into the actual airport.
I offer to treat my mum to a coffee at the Starbucks, so I part from her and order our two drinks before finding her again and sitting next to her.
The warmth of the coffee was almost reassuring me that everything was going to be okay.
I look over towards my mum. " I'm excited to get away, you know"
She turns to face me and smiles "yes Hun, me too you'll meet so many great people" she says before taking a sip of her coffee.
I nod in agreement.
I look around and notice how happy everyone around me was, they were all clearly excited to be going on holiday.
Me and mum never really went on holidays together, I'm guessing it was because we didn't have enough money.
But my friend Crystal took me to Bournemouth ( a seaside town) it was such a nice little trip, we spent days in the hot sun on the beach.
My favourite thing was the fish and chips, just thinking about it makes me drool.
"Honey we have to board now" she laughs, snapping me from my daydream.
I giggle, standing up and taking my bag towards the gate.
We queue up before finally handing over our pass and tickets to the lovely woman.
She smiles sweetly, before giving me back our tickets
"Row 16, seats 24 and 25 you are on the left hand side" she grins.
"Thank you" I reply
We speed walk down the aisle as we were one of the last people to board and we didn't want any people having death wishes for us.
I take the window seat as my mum places our bags in the overhead Carrier.
I do up my seatbelt purposely very tight (just to make sure).
The last few people board before the do the safety checks, but I wasn't really listening I was more worried about the actual plane. Not too long later I hear the engines start up and right at that moment my heartbeat quickens.
My mum takes ahold of my hand to reassure me.
The plane starts reversing ever so slowly, before heading out towards the runway.
I watch as another plane takes off.
'It can't be that bad' i tell myself hoping it will calm me down.
We start to speed up as I grip tighter onto my mums hand and push myself further into the seat.
I slowly feel the plane lift up as we go ever so high.
We eventually straighten out and I breathe a sigh of relief.
" how did you find that?" my mum asks.
" I was expecting a lot worse, but now my ears hurt" I say whining as my ears kept popping.
I plugged in my earphones and stared out the window.
It was so relaxing just looking at the clouds, it looked beautiful.
I knew it was going to be a long flight so i took this time to myself to plan;
What I was going to do when I got there?
What would my room look like?
Who would I meet?
What they do for Christmas when it's so hot?I smiled knowing it would all work out somehow. Well it sort of has to.
I wake up from an extremely long nap, who knew I was that tired.
I notice my mum was still in a deep sleep, so I crack open a can of coke and just enjoy the view.
I check the little screen in front of me and notice, we only had an hour left until we were there. Australia. Melbourne.
'I hope the people are nice' I thought to myself, well they definitely can't be worse than the people in the uk.
They are always so rude.
My mum wakes up.
" you okay Hun" she asks softly.
"Yeah, I'm fine, how are you" I reply
"I'm okay" she's says
I just nod as I take my time packing away my things, preparing for the landing.
Eventually there is an announcement telling us to put our seat belts back on and to turn off all mobile phones.
I didn't even take off my seatbelt during the flight I was way to scared.
Eventually the plane starts to descend, i feel the familiar pain of my ears popping, as I think to myself 'don't worry it'll all be over soon' .
I glance out the window and notice how close we are to the runway.
A wave of relief washes through me as the planes wheels finally touch onto the runway.
We eventually start to slow down, but I'm way too interested in what's going on outside.
It looks so much nicer here. It's actually hot. Everyone looks happy that I've seen so far.
I get so lost in my own little world that my mum had to shake me out of my thoughts." come on!" She said with excitement before adding " we have to get off the plane" she smiles
I smile.
"Here we are"
