The six shadowhunters walked down the corridor in the entrance of the institute, Clary storming in front as Finn trailed behind, dragging his feet against the floor.
Clary didn't look back as she spoke up, Alec immediately rolling his eyes, "I still don't understand. How can Shadowhunters be better than... than what you people call mundanes?"
Finally, at the end of the corridor, Clary turned around to face them making them stop. Alec leaned against the wall, making sure Sophie's back was against his chest once again as Izzy spoke up for them, "Because we protect humans,"
Clary sighed, her eyes snapping harshly to Izzy before hissing out, "You're right. Humans. You protect humans. You left Simon all alone in the van. Great job, guys. You rock,"
Alec felt the anger wash off his wife and quickly spoke up, "There is some truth to the idea that human beings should have a modicum of common sense,"
Clary scoffed, her harsh, small eyes turning to Alec, who didn't care, instead, he stroked Sophie's arm in comfort as Izzy also spoke, "Alec, not now."
Jace turned to Clary before explaining, his back turned on his family as most of them glared at him, "Look, they won't do anything to Simon. They just wanted to draw you out. They want the Cup, and they think you have it,"
Clary shook her head, unable to keep her voice down as she argued back, "But why do they think that? Why does anyone think that? What, my mom lies to me my entire life except, 'Oh, by the way, there's this magic cup, I hid on, like, the planet Bongo, but don't tell anyone,'" Once Clary finished her rant she let out a sigh and Sophie slowly began to realise that she was joining Finn's side of thinking, the red-head was getting on her nerves, "What am I supposed to do now?"
Alec began walking away, his hand linking with Sophie as he called, "We have to report to the Clave,"
"Great," Jace groaned out, walking with them as Finn also joined,
"They have to know what we've learned about Valentine," Alec explained as they began walking away, Jace running a hand over his face,
However, Clary called out again and the four of them stopped, Izzy quickly walking up to them, "What, that he's my father? Great. Fine. Tell them. What good does that do Simon?"
Jace, who was leaning against the wall by the elevators, spoke up and everyone realised he was the only one that Clary would possibly listen to, "Clary, it's all connected. The vamps want the Cup,"
Clary snapped her head to him, her eyebrows pulled themselves together, "Why? It makes new Shadowhunters,"
Sophie rolled her eyes, her head tilting back and resting on Alec's chest, "Nobody wants Valentine forming an army loyal to himself," She explained briefly, "Plus, it controls demons,"
