Demons and emerald blade

I'm a boy who was born in a poor family in the red light district. I have a lungs disease and my parents couldn't afford to raise a child who couldn't work so they sold me to the Tokito house. I became very popular, very quickly and got the reputation of "the prettiest boy of the flower district".

I was wandering in the streets at night after work, enjoying the few hours of freedom away from all those peoples who lust after my body.

"Man, it sure is chilly tonight."

I said, looking at the stars and the declining moon, my breath visible in the cold air of the night.

Then I heard it. A disgusting sound, the sound of flesh being ripped apart. It came from somewhere near. I run into the dark alley where it came from without thinking.

Curiosity killed the cat, or so the old saying goes. Or maybe I wanted to help ? I don't know. I didn't think it through.

My steps lead me towards the noise

When I finally reached where the sound came from I froze in place. It was a crossroad in the poorest part of the district. There were no light and trash and trash cans everywhere. And shockingly...

There was a corpse, dismembered and half eaten. With a horned creature on top of it. I hid myself in the shadow, rushing behind a trash can, hoping it didn't saw me.

But some detritus fell from it and made a light sound...

The creature raised it's head and looked around.

I was shivering in fear, incoherent thoughts in my head.

"Strange, I thought I heard something."

A deep but distorted voice said before going back to eating the corpse.

I stayed hidden in place -my heart thumping so loud I thought the monster would hear it- until it finished it's meal and left.

After It left, I stood up, shaking in fear that it might come back. I glanced at what was left of the corpse and I started to feel nauseous. I fell on my knee and puked.

Then I noticed something shining on the ground.

It was the blade of a broken sword, shining a beautiful emerald color. The hilt was nowhere to be found. I took the blade in my hand, thinking it might help me if the demon decided to come back.

"Sorry, I'm taking that. It'll be more useful to me than to a dead man."

I said to the body, praying for his soul before leaving.

-a week later-

I spent a part of my savings to repair my newfound blade and replace the hilt, but since a part of it is missing, it's now a knife instead of a katana. I feel a little safer with it so I carry it with me all the time.

And it turned out, it was a good idea.

One day during my work at the Tokito house, this happened :

"Wow~ (Y/n)-chan, it's true what they say about you, you really are beautiful !"

A women with long black hair said. Her name is Hina, she is a new customer. Judging by the poor quality of her clothes, she saved money for a long time in order to afford me.

I'm quite pricey you know~

She was waiting, in a room of the Tokito house, for me to come out of the shower. Hygiene is important.

It was quite a small round, with a wooden floor, a window through which we could see the night sky and a bed for too. And of course, a door to the bathroom, which I come from.
