"i'm really gonna die alone, huh?"

taehyun rolled his eyes playfully externally, but had a more sarcastic reaction within his mind. he had heard that before, the phrase passing choi beomgyu's lips multiple times. along with his painful crush on jiyeong, a girl in another senior class, poor taehyun had to suffer with beomgyu's complaints of never being noticed by her.

"you're being dramatic," taehyun said with a deep sigh and beomgyu pouted to himself.

"tae, she's so beautiful," he sighed, looking across the lunch hall. "i'm sorry if i'm making you uncomfortable, but… i can't stop. she's amazing. she's cute, funny, shy… perfect…"

taehyun gagged falsely. "gross. you're being gross. stop."

beomgyu rolled his eyes, mimicking taehyun from earlier. "not my fault i'm in love with her, mate."

yes, beomgyu had a crush on a girl. not just any girl, but jiyeong, the flower of the senior year. she was really pretty, and everyone liked her a lot. she didn't have a bitch personality, had a really pretty smile, had almost perfect features (including her really deep dimple) and showed love for the world, proving that she had a positive outlook on life.

taehyun really couldn't compare to her perfection — he was sarcastic most of the time, had big eyes that stood out in a crowd of fellow koreans, he thought his smile was too big and didn't really think too positively about life, stating that 'his time was near', even if he was literally 17 years old. he also went through mid-life crises several times a week, showing that he was definitely ready to quit the game known as life.

jiyeong was perfect, and taehyun wouldn't mind if his best friend managed to date her. they would be perfect for one another, since beomgyu was a fan of cliche love, and jiyeong was hoping for that perfect love story. taehyun couldn't help but feel that their love story would be short if that was the storyline.

"just at least talk to her," taehyun suggested. "your senior prom is up in a few weeks anyways, and maybe you can get her to be your partner. you're tall and handsome — girls will probably flock for you."

"you're just saying that because you're my best friend."

taehyun raised an agreeing eyebrow for a second. "it was part of the contract, after all."

beomgyu chuckled. "i probably didn't see that part."

"everyone agrees to the terms and conditions without reading it. i, like a psychopath, read everything," taehyun said. "part of the best friends contract is that i am to involuntarily compliment you and make you feel like you're on top of the world when you're down or uspet. i also have to be your main support, your main reason for success and-or failure and the first person to insult you when you feel positive about yourself."

"that makes me feel a whole lot better."

"wasn't supposed to, but okay."

beomgyu sighed, looking over the short-haired blonde girl on the other side of the lunch hall. her effortless beauty made beomgyu sad, in fact. he knew he could never have her, but he was choi beomgyu — nothing could stop him.
