"don't abandon me, mate. please. i love you."

taehyun rolled his eyes. "that's flattering, but i'm still going on my date."

beomgyu whined childishly and grabbed taehyun's arm. "please! i wanted to play siege with you! please. i won't use blitz, i promise."

"beom, we both know that i'm better than you, even if you use blitz," taehyun replied with a roll of his eyes. "point is, eric deserves a chance. he's got a crush on me and i'm single and sad, so i might as well give him a chance. you should try to talk to jiyeong before someone else asks her out."

beomgyu hissed a bit and nodded. "maybe. i'll try on monday, since i really need to get a date for the prom night. jiyeong will compliment me well if we go together."

"you think?" taehyun smiled, earning a nod from beomgyu. the younger put his hand on beomgyu's arm. "but i'll always be your number one."

beomgyu stopped for a moment as he stared at taehyun. he felt his cheeks burn, and he wanted to pull away, but instead, he smiled widely and nodded. "always."

taehyun adjusted his bag strap and sighed once they reached his home. "okay, i have to get ready now. i'll let you know over text how it went, okay?"

"no problem," beomgyu smiled. "tell eomma kang that i miss her and that i want to sleep over this weekend."

taehyun laughed as he walked into his yard. "we'll see if she'll let you. bye, beommie."

beomgyu waved at the boy. "bye-bye."

taehyun walked into his home and beomgyu continued on his way. he sighed to himself. he tried to think of ways to finally talk to jiyeong, but he could only think about taehyun and his date with eric. he felt upset that his time with taehyun was being taken away, and he felt rather selfish. he didn't care that he was selfish, however — taehyun was his best friend, after all. he felt that he was allowed to be selfish.

he didn't think eric deserved taehyun. beomgyu only wanted the best for taehyun, and eric didn't seem to fit the category for beomgyu, even if he hardly knew the guy. he just couldn't help but feel that eric was missing a special factor that would make a flawless love story, but he couldn't really figure out what it was.

then his mind drifted to thoughts of taehyun's pretty smile that he hardly thought was pretty. beomgyu hated that taehyun wasn't particularly positive about his looks, which made him upset a lot. beomgyu was always there to pick him up when he was feeling down, however, to let taehyun know that he was more than enough for anyone.

taehyun was much more beautiful than he thought he was, and beomgyu smiled to himself at the thought of taehyun's melodious laugh. the way his eyes disappeared when he laughed was like pure art, and beomgyu loved it. he loved how flawless taehyun was. he also thought that maybe it was time to accept that taehyun, his gay best friend, was growing up and it was time to let him go.

taehyun would inevitably fall in love, and beomgyu would have to step back because they were just best friends.
