It was three whole days before the meeting was held. For Sabrina, these days were nerve wracking. She spent her time in the infirmary, insisting on working to keep her mind off of things. The four witches who’d been taken to the infirmary after Jonathan Eres’ death were nearly healed thanks to the potions they’d been receiving. Because Sabrina had made sure to keep them guarded at all times, none had been attacked since arriving in the infirmary. No other suspicious activity had gone on since Jonathan’s death, either. For the most part, everyone believed that it was a simple prank that turned sour. And for the time being, the Elders were willing to allow people to believe that. Sabrina had disagreed, but ultimately Willow and Alain decided it was for the best
The meeting was scheduled for late in the afternoon, and it was Sabrina’s job to gather everyone up. Her first stop was Tamara Ivy, the resident potions specialist. As she walked into Tamara’s classroom, Sabrina called out for her friend. She glanced around the room to find Tamara bent over a cauldron. It was obvious that she hadn’t heard anyone come in and was, as always, consumed by her work.
“Tam?” The witch’s head popped up as she turned to see who’d disturbed her. Upon seeing Sabrina, she relaxed and gave a smile.
“Hey there, Brina! What’re you up to?” Tamara placed the spoon she was holding onto the counter before walking over. She was covered in some sort of yellow goo, which if Sabrina had to guess would be a regenerative potion. “You’ve been working pretty hard, huh?” Sabrina smirked, eyeing the witch’s soaked sweatshirt.
As she looked down at herself, it seemed that Tamara had only just noticed her appearance. “Oh! I, uh… I guess I got a little carried away, didn’t I?” Her face burned, becoming a shade of red that rivaled her hair color.
Sabrina laughed lightly, putting her hand on her friend’s shoulder. “Don’t you always?” She winked before continuing, “But you should probably get cleaned up soon. We’ve got a meeting to attend.” Tamara’s eyebrows pulled together in confusion.
“We? Why am I invited to a meeting? Did I do something? Was it the potion last week? I know it was a horrible mistake, an amateur move most definitely. But I—I thought that I cleaned it all up? And no one else could have mentioned it, I was alone when—“
“Tams! You’re not in trouble. The Elders have called a meeting with the best of the best, and that includes you.” Tamara was silent for a moment, her eyes fixed Sabrina with a level stare.
“…What’s going on, Sabrina?”
Sabrina’s face fell a little, her shoulder slumping. “Just…get cleaned up and be in Willow’s office by six.” Tamara said nothing more. She only nodded slowly, her eyes never leaving Sabrina’s face. With a sigh Sabrina turned to leave the room.
Her next target was Brady Nevian. He was easy to find, curled up in the living room watching Food Network. “B, get up. We’ve got a meeting at six, and you’re needed in Willow’s office.” He didn’t ask her what it was about; she didn’t expect him to. Brady wasn’t one to question orders. He did what he was told without complaint unless it was something that went completely against his morals.
“Who else will be there?”
“Besides us and the Elders, Tamara, Phoenix and Kayden.”
“Ah, the holy five, huh?” Brady smirked at her, making Sabrina smile.
“Of course!”
“Well, if you want I can get Kayden? And even Tamara?”
“I just talked to Tam, but if you want to go get Kayden I’d really appreciate it.”
