KACE

"Ha-ha, Kace! You're so funny!" I heard Jalen laugh as we conversed.

I guess I was.

"I wish I could get to know you better. Maybe Annie wants to as well..."

Yeah... maybe you do...

"But... you should choose quickly... I'm not a patient one..."

I snapped awake, groaning softly before heading downstairs and downing a glass of water.

Okay, I need to stop having these weird ass dreams. My job is very serious... and is the first truly interesting assignment Annie and I'd gotten from the Jeongs since two years ago when we were asked to help with their friend's wedding planning... okay, maybe that was boring.

But... god, was that dream something... that made me happy.

I could feel myself grinning from ear to ear. I couldn't stop since I thought about it once more.

And being in America again was such a harsh, yet relieving reminder of how my past had turned out, but... I'm almost glad to be back in my native country anyway...

I clenched my duster harder in my hand before reaching for a cobweb in the corner of the kitchen.

"Morning, Kace..." I heard Annie's tired voice behind me.

The food from yesterday's picnic must've left her in an incredible food coma.

"Heh. Good morning, or should I say, afternoon," I joked, scaring her before she noticed that it was only 8 in the morning by checking her phone, making her smack my arm.

"That isn't funny, Greenie."

I only crossed my arms at her and smirked devilishly.

I heard thudding from the stairs. One of the Jeongs must have been up to check on us.

"Good morning-" I stopped myself when I noticed it was none other than Jalen. "J-Jalen. You're up early."

"Yeah, I just have somewhere to be. Didn't want to alarm you guys!"

Somewhere to be at 8 AM?

"Uh, okay?" I wondered. Where could she be going?

Maybe I shouldn't ask...

"So, where you going?" A shrill voice called behind me.

Damn it, Annie! You always have to be so blunt!

"Ah, nowhere you two should worry about," she shrugged it off casually. "I just have an old friend I wanted to catch up with- invited me out for breakfast, isn't that nice? Anyway, I won't be back until the afternoon. My only order for you is..."

The two of us stood up, ready to receive any command.

"...to have fun while you two are here. Take some time to relax. It's only you two. The family went out."

That's right... they did.

"Anyway, see you guys!" She called as she shut the door.

I gave a smile and returned to dusting.

"She's quite charming, isn't she, Annie?" I asked as she mopped the tiled ground of the kitchen slowly.

"Huh..?" She seemed to duck away her head at my question.

"S-Sure. Sure!" She stuttered.

"Is something wrong?"

"No... no. I just... happened to n-notice..." she pointed down.
